Monday July 30th 2012

It is going to be a long day today.  Got Linda up kind of early and we tried to get everything in order and back in place and packed into the car so we could get on the road.  Turned off the water and electricity and covered up furniture.

We were packed and on the road by 8AM  I think that is quite a feet!  We stopped at the gas station down the road to get a breakfast burrito and get some air in the tires.  Cost a dollar for air but we didn’t get any, there wasn’t an air chuck on the hose!  We stopped at another station and I checked the air and it was OK.

I am going to put a couple pictures in here..This is the Starling bird house and I guess these are Starlings???

112_4037

This is a different view of our home…Our orange tree is loaded with oranges, they are really green though.

112_4041

Getting ready to load the car.  It is pretty warm out already and I really worked up a sweat loading the car even though we brought back a lot less that we took down.

Our trip back to Nacogdoches went pretty good.  Texas sure is a big state!  We made it to Nacogdoches around 5PM which I thought was pretty good.  We have a Tom Tom that said it was around 550 miles and about eleven hours. I told Linda to turn it off.  I copied the route to take from Mapquest and it seemed to work good for us.  The rest of the trip tomorrow should be pretty easy, once we get back on Route 59.  Should be home tomorrow evening.

We are staying at the same motel that we stayed at on the way down.  The Victorian Inn and it is a lot cheaper tonight.  I know better now than to try to get it off the internet!!!
Have a great one….Night Y’all….

PS.  I don’t have my glasses so I’m not even checking the spelling because I can’t see the worts!!

Sunday July 29th 2012

This is Sunday and it is going to be another very warm day.  I went to church at Mission First Baptist Church and the Sunday School class was very small, the teacher Rosalie, Dick and Mary and me.  It was interesting though.  Rosalie is very knowledgeable in the Bible.  She has been a Missionary in Mexico and must have a very interesting past.

Church was very different.  They had a bunch of kids that went to camp and they did the singing, and the one leader was an excellent singer!  They gave testimonies about the camp.

112_4031

Even though the picture is blurry it is a lot better than what I figured it would be.  I sat almost to the rear of the church.

112_4035

The church was really crowded! That reminds me of Friday night when we came into town, the expressway was almost bumper to bumper!  This is supposed to be the off season!!!

After church I went to Wal Mart and got some keys made and filled up with gas then I stopped at Leo’s (gas station) and got some burritos.  They were excellent.  That wasn’t what I wanted, I wanted a half chicken but they don’t have chicken on Sunday!  Oh well, this Fall I will have to stop and get some chicken.  The beans hit the spot, very spicy Ranch Beans.

Linda liked them…

112_4036

This is the inside of our home in Texas.  It is very comfortable and the air conditioners work really well or swellSmile

Well, we aren’t going to do much the rest of the day, guess I will have to sign off…Night Y’all…

Saturday July 28th 2012

Sparky and I got up early this morning, well, just like every morning, but here it is still dark at 6AM!  I was surprised that it doesn’t get light until around 6:30 and it is almost seven before the sun finally comes up.

I want to add a picture of Linda and the park model here…

112_4026

I had taken the dead bolt out of the door and we needed to go to Wal Mart to get another one.  I would have gone to Lowe’s but they are to far away and I was sure that Wal Mart would have what I wanted.  They did, in fact I got a set, the dead bolt and the door handle.  We also got a few other thingsSmile

This morning when I was walking Sparky in the dark, we were heading back from the entrance and Sparky saw something and I could see a dark spot in the road and I thought “Oh no” I hope it isn’t a skunk or something like that.  We tried to walk around it  and then it started to run and Sparky started to chase it!  It was a dog!  Whew!  When we got into the light I saw that it had a collar and tag on and the dog looked like Shadow!  He didn’t really like Sparky so we just walked on and it followed us and when we got home he kind of waited outside, I wondered if he had been dumped???

Getting back from Wal Mart Linda said, “who is that”??  Someone was looking at our electric meter, an old man!  When he stood up and walked out from under the orange tree I could see it was someone we knew.  It was Dan, I couldn’t remember his name but he asked if we knew there was and air conditioner running in the house and I said “yes, there are two of them running”.  He introduced himself and told him we met Shadow this morning out by himself.  He said his back hurt so bad he just couldn’t walk the dog so the dog got to go on his own.

Well, I changed the deadbolt and it wasn’t bad at all, just had to have the  door open and it is about100 degrees outside so that made the air conditioner work all that much more. They do a good job though.  I will wait until later for the door handle.  Would be nice to have one key to fit both locks!

I did something this afternoon, or evening that I haven’t done in many years!  I went swimming!  The water was about 90 degrees, very warm, and I was there by myself.  I didn’t stay long, to much exercise for me.

I tried changing the door handle tonight.  To much work, I will wait until this winter when it is cooler.  Everything works fine now but putting in the door handle is going to be a job and I’m not sure it will even fit, good project for this winter, sometime!

We are all getting settled in and it is pretty comfortable,  We have no regrets about purchasing this park model.  It will be a great winter get away!

Time to say  Night Y’all..

Friday July 27th 2012

We got to Nacogdoches yesterday as I said.  We did sleep pretty well and by morning the room had cooled off pretty good.  We got ready to leave and the time wasn’t to bad probably around 8AM.  Their hot breakfast was waffles, I’m not a waffle fan, love pan cakes but waffles I’m not that fond of, I do and will eat them but not my choice for breakfast.  We had a couple of pastries.

We got gas before leaving Nacogdoches and got on the road.  We called Bernie and Elinore to ask about the door lock and wondered if it had a latch on the inside, well it doesn’t, it is a key lock on both sides!  That isn’t good.  We called Bob, the park owner and he said he would take his keys down and give them a try and would call us back later.

We drove on praying for a miracle and sure enough about an hour later Bob called back and said we were in!!!!  He had the key for the door handle and the deadbolt wasn’t locked!  Now that is a miracle!

We stopped in Alice for gas, not a great place to stop, it was about four miles from the interstate but we needed the gas, we had driven over four hundred miles on this tank and the car has a small tank.  We only have another hundred plus miles to go to get to Palmview, home!

I’m guessing the temperature right now at 5:30 is around 95 degrees and the house has been closed up for a couple of months.  We started unloading the car and I plugged in the electricity and turned the water on.  Looks like everything is OK.  The temperature inside in 98 degrees.  I turned the air on in the bedroom and let it cool off, I know we won’t be able to sleep with this kind of heat.

I took a shower, Linda was going to until she found she couldn’t get into the tub!  It will be one of the first projects that we do.  I think the tub is regular height but is set on a platform.  I can’t stand up in it so something is going to have to change.

The air conditioner in the bedroom works great.  What a difference in temperature!  We have it set on 75 and it is almost cold!  I’m sure it will be to cold for me to sleep well.

I have some pictures but I’m going to have to find the cord so I can down load them…We are really tired and the bed is soooooo comfortable!!!   Night Y’all….

Thursday July 26th 2012

Well I got Linda up early this morning, actually 6AM!!!  Unheard of for sure!

We packed up things in the car and tried to get everything done in the house but usually we forget something!

We were almost to Little Rock before I asked her if she was sure she had the keys…she thought that she did but after going through her purse she couldn’t find itSad smile, what a bummer.  Not going back home.  Bernie’s son in San Antonio has one but I don’t want to drive over there for a key.  I think we can get in and hopefully won’t have to break a window to do it!

We had a really nice day of travel, it has been in the 90s almost since we left Missouri.  Not any hotter here than there but it is very warm.  The AC in the car works great, not to cold not to warm.

We made it to Nacogdoches about 4:30PM which is a lot earlier than I figured we would get here.  Had a little problem with the motel, the Victorian Inn…

112_4025

This is the motel and the outside looks very nice, actually the room isn’t to bad either, the AC doesn’t work that great though.

The problem we had is I made reservations online and I guess it was through Price Line and I found out I paid about $15 more than if I had just called and made a reservation.  I will have to make a comment on line about it.

Not going to do much of anything tonight just cool off and watch TV.  The big problem with the room was actually Sparky. The motel is pet friendly but I still had to pay extra for him.  This is his first night in a motel, well a human motel.  So far he is doing great…

Going to cool off and say Night Y’all…

Wednesday July 25th 2012

Well, here is another day that isn’t going to be very  cool and I work again today.   I’m sure that I won’t be working past noon.  I started pulling weeds that Roundup won’t kill and I worked until almost 11’30AM and I’m soaked. The temperature is about 95 and there is a pretty good breeze but it is still to hot to be pulling weeds!  I am going home at noon.

Linda cut my hair this afternoon.  I really needed it.  It was getting way to long and to hot.  She did a good job and I feel a lot better.  I laid down for awhile, didn’t sleep but rested and I do feel a lot better.  Linda is also feeling better.  Doesn’t take much for her back to start hurting though.  Her breathing sounds a lot better now and that is also good.

We are getting stuff put away and straightening things up.

Not much else going on so I am really going to make this short….Night Y’all..

Tuesday July 24th 2012

Well, probably won’t have to much to write today.  I will go to work later and probably won’t stay to long, it is supposed to get very warm today.

Went into work at 9AM and it was already warm.  I sprayed Roundup for a few hours, dumped trash, mowed a little section where we moved a tree and blew the rocks off the driveway.  I left work at noon.  This afternoon would be way to warm to work outside.

I took a nap when I got home, couldn’t stay awake in my recliner.  Didn’t feel real good after the nap but I imagine I will wake up later.

We didn’t do much of anything this afternoon, lounged and stared at the TV!

Guess that is about all for today, very boring huh?  Night Y’all…..

Monday July 23rd 2012

Not a lot going on today, just going to take it easy I think.  I did get the grill cleaned up, kind of anyway!

Our gladiola plants are starting to get buds on them…

112_4014

kind of hard to see them but three of them have buds.  I will take another picture after it blooms.  To bad they aren’t perennial instead of annual. I did plant some hollyhock out here by the stumps so maybe they will come up.

I texted Mark today to see if I could work Tuesday and Wednesday instead of Wednesday and Thursday.  He said it was OK.  We may do a little something this weekend, will have to wait and see.

Linda and I played a game on the computer this afternoon. Took a couple of hours but it was interesting.  I hadn’t ever done this one before.

It got up close to 100 today and it just isn’t fit to go outside for very long.  Makes me wonder what I will be doing at work because it is supposed to be hotter tomorrow and Wednesday!

Well, not much else happening here…Night Y’all…

Sunday July 22nd 2012

The weather is pretty nice this morning.  Kind of cool, not as nice as yesterday though.

I made a mistake and told Linda I would bake her some Jalapeno

bread this morning and of course I didn’t realize this was Sunday morning! I got up about 5AM and got it started.  It isn’t hard and doesn’t take long. This was supposed to be a really cool morning, about 68 degrees and that would be nice for baking bread but I think the temperature outside is about 72 and that is kind of warm.  I did it anyway.

The bread turned out pretty nice I think..

112_4020

We had a slice before I left for church.  I toasted it and mine was the heal and I burnt it, Sparky didn’t even want it!  I ate it anyway, not to bad.  Marian likes her toast burnt but I just like mine golden, funny, I like my marshmallows burnt, most people like theirs golden brown.

Church and Sunday School were very good again.   The Pastor’s daughter sang the special and she is another very good singer. I may have to download the picture,  lets’ see….

112_4022

Pastor introduced her as his daughter so I don’t know what her name is, guess I could have asked, oh well, I’m not on the ball all the time.

A funny thing happened in Sunday School.  Ken sat beside me and I saw him looking at his feet and he asked me if his shoes matchedSmile???  I asked him if he had another pair at home just like them, not really, they looked the same to me, he left a few minutes later, wonder if he went out in the sunlight to check it out??

I fixed lunch, we had chicken patties, baked potatoes, corn and salad.  It wasn’t to bad, I got full anyway, guess that is what counts!

This afternoon I went out with Sparky and it is just hot, hot, hot!  The sun seems to be especially hot for some reason.

Well, not much else went on the rest of the day, went to church tonight and Pastor preached on the death of Jesus and what it means to us.  Very good sermon.  I may try to go to church Wednesday if I don’t work all day.I am so used to getting off work at 5:30PM that I don’t have time to get home and get back and I’m usually so tired I couldn’t do it anyway.

OK, time to go….Night Y’all….

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Saturday July 21st 2012

Another magnificent morning!   Cool out this morning and a nice breeze blowing out of the North so I opened the house and let it air out for awhile.

I was standing on the porch (deck) just looking at the ground where I wanted to put some cement and have a place for the grill instead of having it in the garage.  I started digging….kind of fun!  I thought I would just do it for awhile but it went quite well…

112_4015

I just eye balled the hole, hopefully I will be able to get the old springs into it and then cover them with cement!  I have four bags of cement left in the garage, the kind you just add water to, but I know that won’t be enough.  I figure I will need about ten more.

Well, I can only put six in the car and that weighs four hundred and eighty pounds.  Puts the back end of the car down for sure..

112_4016

I could have gotten more in here but six was plenty.  I had to go back and get six more.  I could have used another two bags but this will have to do..

112_4017

This was with ten bags….

112_4018

Well, I have it done and it is only 10AM and I made two trips into town!

112_4019

I was also amazed after checking the level of the grill that it was spot on!  May not look real good but I think it will work.  Now I have to clean the grill, it is quite dusty from sitting for so long.

I will have to get a cover for it and then put it in the garage when we leave for any length of time.  Guess I could padlock it to the deck though.

Well, it’s time to take it easy.  I worked up a sweat doing this and it’s only about 11AM now.

Going to take it easy the rest of the day.  I did take Linda’s stationary bike out to the garage.  It was just taking up space in the house and neither of us used it so out to the garage.

We  did move a few things around.  Don and LaVon are coming to visit so need to get the spare bedroom cleaned out for them.  Not much to move but need to do it.

Time to say night y’all and get this posted…..

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Friday July 20th 2012

The weather has cooled down somewhat and the wind is out of the North and in the morning it is just gorgeous outside.  I even sat on the porch with Sparky for awhile.  I mention Sparky because as soon as I sit down outside he is in my lap, actually any ones lap!  He is an outside lap dog!

Our other two stray dogs love to try to get in my lap also so I don’t sit while they are around.

We really thought seriously about driving down to Texas today and really would have liked to have gone, oh well, there will be other times.  Next week is supposed to be just as hot as this week so I don’t imagine I will work more than a half day either day, just to hot to be outside for very long. Mowing isn’t to bad and I could handle that all day but the grass doesn’t grow much during this kind of weather.  Grant will be heading back to school on August 13th so we will see what kind of schedule that brings.

We went into town today to Wal Mart, mostly just to look around and pick up some milk.  Linda’s back started hurting so she had to go sit down and rest.  I was only a few minutes later so we went on home.

We just took it easy the rest of the day.  Watched some TV tonight but that’s about it….Night Y’all….

Friday, July 20, 2012

Thursday July 19th 2012

I think it’s going to be another warm one!

Got to work and Grant and I are going to Russell St to mow.  I guess I’m going to mow and Grant is going to spray and weed whack.  We had a slow start because the mower is only running on one cylinder again so Grant had to go pick up another plug.  The Kubota place only carries one plug at a time I guess.  The last time we replaced one, about two months ago, they only had one so I guess that is their stock pile!

We finished earlier than I thought we would.  We had Mark’s truck so we needed to get it back so they could go to lunch.  We made it back a little after noon and we got everything unloaded and they were ready to take off. Grant said he was done for the day because he was just plumb tuckered!  I can understand that, I’ve been there.  I asked Mark if he wanted to work on a tree this afternoon and I’m not sure but I don’t think he did.  It is going to be over 100 degrees and I’m not sure but I think it is close already.  We decided to call it a day.

On the way home I noticed on the bank it was 99 and I had 100 in the car so I guess it is a good thing to take the rest of the day off.

We are thinking of heading to Texas tomorrow to take some things down so we won’t have quite such a load this Fall.

Got a call from Kim, out in California, and she was saying Dee is having vehicle problems so with that we decided not to go.  I was thinking of not going anyway but this kind of settled it.

Linda fixed egg burritos for supper, they were really good.  Haven’t had them for a long time.  Well, not much else going on tonight…guess it’s that time….Night Y’all

Thursday, July 19, 2012

Wednesday July 18th 2012

Back to work today.  I’m sure there won’t be any mowing but you never know.  I know it is supposed to get hot though and that won’t be good.

Still doing a little packing for our trip to Texas.  Still not sure if we are going to make a fast trip or not.  I would really like to get some of this stuff down there but if we can’t well, we will be loaded when we go for the winter.

Yippee!!! I get t spray Roundup!  Well, one or two bottles aren’t to bad so I guess I can put up with that.  Ended up with four bottles and my feet are starting to hurt!  I am sweating like crazy also.  The wind is blowing so it isn’t to bad.  If it wasn’t blowing I’d be going home early I think.

This afternoon Grant and I finished cutting up a tree and moving it to the burn pile. We thought about trying to knock down another tree but after this it was getting close to 4:30PM and I figure I may as well go home.  I’m hot and tired so I left an hour early.

When I got home I took a shower and rested.  I fixed some noodles to go with the chuck steak I fixed the other day.  This is the third meal from that steak which probably weighed about two pounds.  The supper was good, even Linda had a second helping!

I’m tired and don’t feel like doing much of anything except sitting around in my recliner.  Sparky wants to play but I’m not really up to it.

Well, time to say Night' Y’all…

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Tuesday July 17th 2012

Nothing planned for today which is good because Linda is sleeping about eighteen hours a day!  That medicine really puts her out.  Now her lungs are sounding like they did when we were in Texas.  I think she is getting the Texas Crud, even though we are in Missouri!  Bronchitis is probably what she has.  I may have to call Dr Travis for some more medicine.  Linda doesn’t get over this stuff very fast so we may be in for a long haul.

We didn’t do much today.  I got some more stuff ready for Texas and tried to think of what to do with the “stuff”  that we have in the house, camper, garage and car.  I’m running out of places to put the “stuff”!  It is really hard getting rid of anything, may need it!  The only time I would need it is if I get rid of it, then I would have to go buy it again, then I’m in the same predicament!  Oh well, guess I will keep shifting it around.

I went outside with Sparky around noon and the sun is just terrible hot!  In the shade it is pretty nice.  Wouldn’t mind sitting outside even if it is 98 in the shade, the breeze is really nice.

I’ve been working with the solar lights that we have placed around.  The ones I bought at Menard’s for $2 apiece, I’ve had a lot of problems with, the ones Linda bought for $3 have been pretty decent only had a minor problem with one, changed the battery and it is working great now.  The ones I bought at Wal Mart for $1 apiece have been working great. No problems at all.  I checked the battery on one just to see what kind of battery it was for sure.  The bottom says 2/3 AA.  Not sure what that is so I took it apart and looked at it and sure enough it is 2/3AA.  Never seen batteries like that before!  Linda asked where we would buy them and I told her for $1  I would get a new light!  Battery probably costs $2.

Well, I played on the computer and watched TV and Linda slept!  I didn’t take another picture of her but she likes that position on the sofa for some reason.  Time to say….Night Y’all…

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Monday July 16h 2012

Linda has to go to the doctor this afternoon and see if he can figure out what is going on with her back.  Hope he can figure it out!

Well, I decided to fix something for dinner today.  Got chicken out and then put it back and after looking around I found a couple of chuck steaks so I figured I would use the crock pot to fix them.  I had to thaw them out first then added some water and some onion soup mix with salt pepper and garlic salt and let it cook for a few hours.

Got to the doctor and he took X-rays of Linda’s back and lungs.  He wasn’t worried about her back, it is just muscles that won’t relax but he said her lungs didn’t look good.  We will be going back next month when I have my appointment and he will take more X-rays I imagine.  This is Dr Travis…

112_4012

He sure looks young, can’t be because we are old  you think?

He gave Linda a couple of prescriptions for a muscle relaxer and a pain pill that we picked up and then did the rest of our “stuff”.

The beef turned out excellent, added some mushrooms and green beans to it, was going to add mushroom soup but I forgot.  Tasted excellent anyway, maybe tomorrow with the left overs I will add the soup.

Linda took her medicine and I had to get a picture of her, she doesn’t like the picture so don’t anyone mention it OK? Smile

112_4013

She really zonked out!  I think she slept for about three hours like this!

She woke up long enough to tape the “stupid show” The “Bachelorette” and watch it later.  I just don’t like that show but it must appeal to a lot of people, they keep bringing it back. I’m not going to give my opinion of it, not nice at all..

Well, Linda woke up in time to take her medicine and watch the show and go to bed.

I guess it is time to say Night Y’all…

Sunday July 15th 2012

OK, yesterday seemed like Sunday and guess what??? Today seems like Sunday also!! Great to have two Sundays in one week!

Went to church this morning at Fellowship Baptist, had a good Sunday School and a good preaching sermon.  Pastor Joe does a good job.

Stopped at Wal Mart.  Linda wanted a TV guide.  Picked one up plus a mailer for a DVD I made for Kim.  When I got home Linda said this was an old TV guide!  What a bummer.  I think she wanted me to go back and pick up a new one but I’m not driving back into town for a TV guide.  I will stop after church tonight.

I fixed lunch today. Had baked potato, corn, salad and chicken nuggets.  Wasn’t to bad.

I went back to church tonight and took the TV guide back and got my money back but they didn’t have any new guides just the ones that were outdated.  Maybe tomorrow when we go to the doctor and mail the DVD to Kim.

Not much else going on tonight.  I couldn’t stay awake in the chair.  It is a comfortable chair.

Linda fixed some popcorn, which was good, but Sparky now has a problem. He had some popcorn but he is kind of messy so I got the vacuum out and got the crumbs, Sparky is really scared of the vacuum cleaner.  He knows we keep it behind the door so I finally moved it and now he is scared of the door and the vacuum (in another room).  Wimpy little dog for sure.

Time to say Night Y’all….

Saturday July 14th 2012

Well, this sure seems like Sunday, not real sure why though.  We don’t have anything planned for today and it is supposed to be kind of warm.  Had a little rain, not much, enough to get things wet but not a soaker.

I am getting things rounded up for Texas.  Not sure what all we have to take but I would like to have tools and things like that down there so I don’t have to buy them.  I know we will have work to do on the place, not urgent, but things we would like to get done.

I was going to go to town today but decided I could wait until I go to church to get what we need.  Linda’s back is still hurting.  I had her put on a lumbar belt, guess that is what it is called, and she wore it for a few hours and it seemed to help.  She will still go to the doctor Monday to see if he can figure this out.

Here is another picture of the Impatience that I planted.  It almost died when we went to California but it is coming back again…

112_4007

When we got back from California all there were was stems.  All the leaves and flowers were gone.  The Vinca plants did great!!

Well, that is about all for today…Night Y’all…

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Friday July 13th 2012

Well, Linda is still hurting, her back is giving her fits.  We changed our Dr appointment from August 6th to this coming Monday July 16th.  Hopefully they will be able to figure out what is wrong or recommend a chiropractor!

She didn’t want to go out so I’m going to go pick up Margaret and Darren and drive them around then take them to Lambert’s.  We drove down so we could sit outside and talk while we waited.  I think our wait was about a half hour, maybe more but we had a good talk during that time.  She sure is a busy lady.  Found out they left the campground at New Braunfels TX because she needs to get her cataract taken care of and the VA down there is swamped so she opted to go back to Ohio to get it done.  She is having a pretty hard time seeing now.

112_3999

I think this is their first time at Lambert’s.  They seemed to like it!

112_4000

We first met at Coffeyville KS and she just had the van as a camper. She still has the van but added a small camper to it.

112_4006

They are going to stay here for about four days.  They plan on doing a little exploring but there isn’t a lot to see around here.  I think I showed them most everything that I know about, which isn’t a lot for sure!

We all had left overs and brought them home.  Linda got to try my hamburger steak.  It was pretty good also brought her some fried potatoes and a roll.  She couldn’t eat it all either.

I had to take a nap!  Don’t know why I was so tired but I just couldn’t hardly stay awake.  I slept for an hour or two I think.  That is something I don’t usually do and when I woke up I really felt bad.  I was dragging.  Took about an hour to get back to normal.  Guess I shouldn’t take naps like that!

Well, guess that is about all for today….Night Y’all….

Friday, July 13, 2012

Thursday July 12th 2012

Back to work today, not looking forward to it for sure!  After yesterday I’m not sure I can handle another day like yesterday.  I feel good this morning but not up to another day of carrying a bottle of Roundup around all day, or pulling weeds etc.

Mark has me mowing today. Finish the RV Park and then the mobile home park.  It is a little warm but could be a lot worse.  It sure is dirty but the grass does need to be mowed.

I finished mowing around 4:30 and headed back to the shop, still have another hour to go yet.

Mark and Grant had started putting up the new sign and I asked if I could help and Mark wanted me to be there to get “stuff” for them so they wouldn’t have to go up and down the ladder so much.  Got some pictures….

Getting started…

Coming along pretty good (I watchSmile).

Almost done…

Finished product….

112_3996

Well,  the got it up and all bolted down, everything put away and it is just 6:30PM.  I am usually finished at 5:30 but that is OK wasn’t to long and I didn’t have to work to hard.

I got home and took a shower and Linda fixed bacon and tomato sandwiches.  Excellent.  Mark gave us a tomato from his garden and it was really good.  Better than the ones from the Farmers Market for sure!

Time to call it a  day….Night Y’all…..

Wednesday July 11th 2012

Back to work today, it isn’t to bad out but think it will get pretty warm this afternoon.  I figure I will be mowing today since it has rained a couple of times but I was wrong!  I got to spray Roundup, pull weeds, weed eat and blow rocks off the drive way.  To make the story short I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through the day.  My shoulders hurt, my feet hurt and I hurt!  I made it but was dragging at quitting time.

Got home and took a shower and some Aleve and sat for the rest of the night.  What an exciting day!  Hopefully I won’t be on my feet all day tomorrow and carrying that jug of Roundup!

Linda made a loaf of banana bread this afternoon.  Very good.  We had a couple of bananas that were really ripe so she got them used up.

The Impatience that I planted and didn’t water for three weeks were just stalks so I started watering them again and they are coming back now.  I think that was pretty close!

One blossom and more buds so I think it may  make a full recovery!

Time to say night y’all…

Tuesday July 10th 2012

Going to be warm today but not like last week.  It is humid and they are calling for showers but there aren’t any clouds so I imagine it will be another dry and warm day.  Well, it did rain.  We took a nap this afternoon and it was raining when I got up.  Got a nice little soaker.  Probably didn’t amount to a lot but it did rain.

OK back to this morning.  I went into town to pick up  Linda’s prescriptions and I had an order in Wal Mart. I had ordered a couple of micro disks for, well, I got them for the movie camera.  They are 8 gigs and were under $5 apiece.  The micro cards are cheaper than the regular ones so I got a couple.  I think this will be a good way to store movies and pictures but I haven’t figured out if I can even download pictures onto these cards.  I know that San Disk has one you can do it but the same 8 gig costs about $40 and that is a little steep.  I may have to do some figuring but DVDs will do the trick.

I got an email from Jackie that had a recipe on it for a personal cake.  It was called a 3-2-1 cake.  You take an Angel Food cake mix and mix it with a regular cake mix of any kind (dry).  The recipe is --- 3 TBS of mix, 2 TBS water and one minute in the microwave.  Of course you have to mix the water and mix together.  We tried it…

112_3990

I’m amazed that it only takes one minute to cook!  The stuff on top is cool whip.  It (the cake) has the consistency of Angel Food cake and ours has a chocolate flavor.  Not my favorite but that’s what Linda wanted and it really is pretty good and really fast to fix!

I used Daniel’s weed eater again this morning.  With the rain the grass that I don’t want to grow is going crazy so I had to do a little trimming.  I also pulled out a bush that wasn’t nice, at least I didn’t think so.  Didn’t take long to get it out but I did work up a sweat doing it.

Here is a picture of Bud that I was  looking for yesterday…

112_3988

That dog is so hot and I guess the cool dirt is about the closest thing to air conditioning that he can get.

Not much going on, tomorrow I go to work again, and it isn’t supposed  to be to hot so hopefully I will make it through the day OK.

Time to say Night Y’all……

Monday July 9th 2012

We got some rain yesterday and might get a little more today, but it didn’t happen.  It cleared off and got humid and got into the  low 90s.  Not a real nice day, didn’t seem any cooler than when it was 106!

I grilled some hamburgers out that were excellent with tomatoes from the Farmers Market.  These tomatoes were a little tastier than the first one.

We just stayed inside and kept cool most of the day.  Take Sparky out and Bud is still hot and has the hole big enough to fit into now.  Think I may have taken another picture..

112_3984

Bud is definitely a cool weather dog.  He sure has gotten himself into a hole though!!!  One of these days it will cool off and he will be happy!

Guess that is about all…Night Y’all….

Sunday July 8th 2012

Went to church at Fellowship again this morning.  I enjoy the Sunday School class because we get into discussions and they are quite interesting.

Charlie sang the special this morning and I did get a picture but it sure wasn’t good.  I think that it probably won’t be to long before I will have to get a new camera.  Maybe a small tripod would be the solution but then I would have to carry that around and that would be just as bad as carrying a large camera!

Linda’s sister, Connie is going to church now and I would like to hear what she thinks about the services.

Pastor Joe usually brings good sermons.  He gets pretty hyper sometimes. Makes it pretty interesting, also wakes you up if you are prone to go to sleep easily.  He also asks a couple times during the sermon if you are listeningSmile. His sermon was out of Proverbs 14:34.  This was a July 4th, or Independence sermon.  I think the first thing he said was “our country is in really big trouble”.  Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.  Think about that!  Are we a righteous nation?  Used to be but people want to get rid of anything to do with God because they don’t want to be convicted of doing things that are against God’s will. I think Pastor Joe really had a good sermon.  Told it like it is.  Something to think about when it’s time to vote this Fall.

We didn’t do much this afternoon.  I went to church tonight.  Rick sang the special and I did get a good picture of him..

112_3986

Rick used to be the choir director or song leader.  His song was about using ordinary people to do extraordinary things for God.

Pastor Joe’s sermon tonight was “The different names of Jesus”.  It was good and even though there are over 200 different names he is going to go through just a few.  Jesus, Christ, Lord, I AM and a few others he mentioned tonight.  This is going to be a series so I’m curious what he will bring next week.

Well, it started raining tonight!   I got a picture of Bud trying to keep cool..

112_3983

He has dug a hole under the deck to lay in.  I feel sorry for him, he gets so hot and for sure I’m not going to let him in the house.  He will be OK but I sure wouldn’t want to be in his place.  With the rain it should cool off enough for him to be a little more comfortable.  Sure hope so…

Relax tonight…Night Y’all..

Saturday July 7th 2012

I think we may go into town today to the Farmer’s Market.  I know my garden isn’t doing much of anything so we will probably buy some tomatoes there.

We got in kind of early, for us, and looked around.  I was surprised at the price of their vegetables! Tomatoes are $2 a pound.  They look really good but kind of expensive.  Linda picked out a large tomato that would be perfect for bacon and tomato sandwiches.  She picked up a few more things like some jelly and a mustard spread.

Well, I fixed the bacon on the grill and I did get a picture…112_3977

Smile  This is the grill!  This is how I fixed the spaghetti too!

Well, we enjoyed the bacon and tomato sandwiches but the tomato didn’t really taste as good as a homegrown tomato and he said that it was home grown!  Oh well, it was still pretty good.

We took it easy the rest of the day because it is just to hot to do much of anything else.

Got a picture of the cotton field across the street and the irrigation running.

112_3979

Wow!  That picture is terrible!

112_3976

Well this picture isn’t blurry but the irrigation either isn’t running here or you just can’t see it.

OK time to say Night Y’all….

Friday July 6th 2012

Another day in a long string of very warm, unpleasantly warm, days. I think Sunday is supposed to be cooler, only supposed to get in the mid 90s!

Not going to do much today, I decided to check my computer to see if it has that virus they are talking about and it says it looks like it is going to be OK.

Called the finance company that has the house next door and after about 20 minutes I finally got to talk to some one and they said they would have some one out within 48 hours to mow the grass.  I was surprised that they were here in about 2 hours and they made it look pretty decent again.

Not going to do much of anything today but for supper I was kind of hungry for spaghetti.  I fixed it on the grill!  Sounds funny right?  Well, I didn’t take a picture of it on the grill but the result I did!

112_3974

Sautéed onion and green pepper with smoked sausage.  We skip the tomato sauce and just use olive oil.  We use Italian spices to set it off though and it tasted pretty good.

Got a call from a friend, Jim and Gail.  They are in South Dakota, Keystone, which is at Mt Rushmore.  They have worked there two years now and love it.  We may try it next year even though we have to think about it.  It would mean leaving this place empty for almost a year!  Not sure we want to keep on doing that.  We would have to get someone to take care of the lawn and watch the place, not sure who I would get to do that.  Something to think about!

We just stayed home and watched TV and didn’t do much else.  Guess I will have to say…Night Y’all…

Thursday July 5th 2012

It’s going to be another hot one and I’m going into work today!

Here at home early in the morning I start in the garage, very slowly, getting things ready for Texas and doing a little cleaning.  I don’t do much, just some things to keep me busy so I don’t have to do it all the day before we leave.

At work I dumped the trash barrels and then started spraying Roundup. It is getting hot and I’m sweating a lot.  Not hardly a breeze either and that doesn’t help except for the Roundup.  I sprayed about five gallons and it was almost noon so I asked Mark if he had anything planned for this afternoon.  He said no, he had other business so I said that I thought I would go home.  It is only about 98 but I get to feeling weak and what I’m doing isn’t worth getting sick over.  I went on home and took a shower and laid down for about an hour.  Didn’t sleep but rested.  Felt good the rest of the day.

The rest of the day we didn’t do much, to hot to do anything.  We even had cereal for supper!  Hit the spot and didn’t heat up the house.  I kept turning the air conditioner up and finally had it set on 84 degrees and it really wasn’t bad.  Got a little warm once in awhile but not bad.  At night I finally got it turned down to 79 and that was a little warm but not real uncomfortable.

Guess that is about all for today…Night Y’all…

Wednesday July 4th 2012

July 4th 2012 is another hot day!  To be expected.  It is summer and I think it is hot all over the US!

Linda keeps asking what I want to do, well, I don’t really want to do much of anything!  To hot to go out and I really don’t want to be on the road. I think the best place is just here at home and keeping cool.  Our air conditioner really works well.

I downloaded a game on the computer and played that most of the afternoon and we decided to have pizza for supper.  Now I’m not about to start up the oven to cook a pizza so I cooked it on the grill and it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself…

112_3972

It got hot and nice and brown and had a slight smoke taste, probably from the grease left on the grates and burners!

Got a picture of our Vinca’s.  The plant in with them is supposed to be English something or other.

112_3969

The English “whatever it is” looks like a Maple tree sapling.   Maybe next year they will bloom.

Calling it a day for sure…Night Yall…

Tuesday July 3rd 2012

Well, it isn’t quite so hot today but I imagine it will warm up!

We don’t have anything planned for today.  Linda’s back is starting to get a little better now even though she says it still hurts especially when she turns the wrong way, so I told her not to turn the wrong waySmile!

I used Daniel’s weed eater today and did just a little weed eating.  I’ve been pulling grass by hand so I already had some of it done.

We went into town and, of course, Wal Mart.  Got a few things and then I stopped at Lowe’s for a couple of little items.  By the time we leave for Texas I should have the pump house insulated so well that it shouldn’t even freeze if the power goes out and is below freezing for a few days.  I sure hope that it doesn’t freeze!  To much work to change that pump again. I sure like it though and the big tank that I put on really makes a big difference on how often the pump runs.

Got another picture of Sparky, I think he thinks the rocker is his.  He uses it about as much as I do…

112_3968

He has gotten used to laying on the foot rest when I have it up or between my legs on the foot rest.

Linda called Rick last night, her cousin, to check and see how they were doing and how Aunt Virgie  was doing also.  They are doing pretty good, getting older like most of us.  Aunt Virgie is also doing pretty good.  Not getting around very well but her birthday is Sunday and she will be 92.  We would like to go see her on her birthday but don’t think that is going to happen.  Very long drive for one or two days.

Here are some of our “wild flowers”  that I didn’t plant…

112_3965

112_3966

'The pink flower is beautiful but only last two or three days.  They only bloom one at a time though so that makes them last about a week!  Nice.

Guess that is about all for today  Night Y’all……
