Monday November 29th 2010

The storm hasn’t made it here yet, thought maybe it would this morning. It is nice outside, cloudy but still nice.  We don’t have anything planned for today, may go to the store but not sure.

I took Sparky for a walk on his leash this morning and it went pretty good.  We walked around the chapel here and then on the way home I think maybe he was disoriented but he wanted to go back to the church!  He didn’t really like the leash so he chewed on it for about 5 minutes…

100_1797

Sharp little teeth, I had to tie it back to the latch.  He did have a good time though and got pretty tired…

100_1792

He sure gets comfortable…

We took it easy this afternoon and had the camper opened for some fresh air.  We actually left it open until we went to bed then had to turn on the air, it was pretty warm and stuffy.

Linda fixed some pork burgers again tonight…

100_1793Looks a lot like hamburger doesn’t it??

100_1795

Festive dinner!  Baked potato, beans, jellied cranberries and pork burgers on a Christmas plate!!!  Great dinner, I didn’t even have room for ice cream later!

I put the awning up, really didn’t want to but the storm was supposed to be here tonight and I didn’t want to do it during the night.  Well, guess that’s about all for today, really exciting huh???  Night Y’all…

Sunday November 28th 2010

Sunday morning and it isn’t to bad out, kind of chilly and breezy but only partly cloudy.  I took a couple pictures of the campground and camper…

100_1779

Pretty nice sites here in Sun Roamers RV Park, there is plenty of yard..

100_1780

Above is our yard which is quite spacious, Sparky loves the piles of pine needles!!

100_1781

This is the little church which we could walk to.  It isn’t very far away.  If we didn’t have family at West Union we would probably go here….

We went to Sunday School and Church services at West Union.  It was a Christmas message from Luke chapter two about Simeon and Anna.  It was good.  He went into detail about the promise from God that he would see the Savior!

We went on home after church, had lunch and played with Sparky for awhile to get him worn down.  He is doing very good with his “house training”  hasn’t really had any accidents in the house, or camper.

Connie called and said that Matt, Destiny, Emma Kate and Ethan were at there house and wanted us to come over and bring Sparky. Ethan and Emma Kate really like Sparky!!  I have a nice picture of Emma Kate and Grandpa Rick…

100_1785

100_1784

100_1783

Not a real good picture of Emma Kate but they sure like playing with Sparky.  Ethan had taken his socks off and Sparky likes playing with anything so Ethan made sure that Sparky could take home a pair of socks.  I have a picture of him playing with a sock..

100_1791

Here is another picture of Ethan and Sparky…

100_1788

Need to hire some kids to wear him down.  They do a great job.  Anna Grace also does a great job of wearing him down.  The hour in the morning playing with him about does me in!!

We stopped to se Aunt Virgie on the way home and had a nice, short visit.  Her phone wasn’t working and found out that the cord the wall wasn’t working so either Steve or Rick will replace it, or I will.

Went to church tonight, I was going to try to get to choir practice but was about fifteen minutes late so I probably won’t sing in the Christmas cantata. Pastor is still in Revelation which is very interesting!!  Like to learn more about that book.  So many things that I don’t understand.  After church we went on home and watched a little TV and I played with Sparky. He takes a lot of attention… Time to go to bed now….Night Y’all…..

Saturday November 27th 2010

It is very cool this morning!!  The wind isn’t blowing real hard but it is very cool.  We keep the camper pretty cool and Sparky slept all night but was really hyper this morning.  I decided to bake some more bread.  I had time after I got Sparky wore down.

We ran down to Home Depot to get a wrench and a couple of lag screws.  I need to fix the dish and then get the awning fastened to the ground.  We spent awhile there and did a lot of window shopping and I left with a cheap small crescent wrench and two lag bolts.

I got the things done that I wanted to get done and we are just taking it easy this afternoon.  The batteries for the camera are still charging so I won’t have any pictures today.

We had left overs for supper, very good and then I decided to play games on the computer and this is why I am going to post this on the day that I wrote it!!  This doesn’t happen very often.

OK, we will just take it easy the rest of the night and then go to bed.  Want to make it to church tomorrow at West Union.  Maybe write more tomorrow.. Night Y’all….

Friday November 26th 2010

I got up about 4AM this morning to take Sparky out, put on my coat and went outside and it must be 70 degrees!!  Very warm.  Put Sparky back to bed and got up with him again about 6AM.  Went outside and the temperature must have dropped 20 degrees.  Very chilly and windy and raining.  This is not my type of weather!  Sparky likes it even worse than I do.  He is very quick about his business and then ready to go back inside where he can warm up a little.

Since it was so cold I decided to make bread.  I took a couple of pictures and guess what???  The batteries went dead in my camera.  I had extra batteries but have used them in different things like clocks etc.  Need to get some more to keep on hand.  I think I will try to put my card in Linda’s camera to see if I can download them that way…guess it’s a good thing we have two Kodak cameras…

100_1772

I tried something a little different on this batch of bread.  I put it all on the table, rolled it out, rolled it up and split it in half.  The loaves are almost the same size!!  First time I have ever gotten them to be close to equal…

We went to Wal Mart to check for a few things, always a few things, but things we can use sometime or other.  We didn’t do the Black Friday thing. To early and to crowded for me.

Later we went over to Steve and Pam’s place, we were late of course but we did make it.  Had leftovers….it was great!!  I love leftovers, I think they taste better after sitting for awhile.

100_1776

Linda, Anna Grace, Connie, Steve and Pam getting things ready.  I have enough juice in the camera to take one more picture….

100_1777

Beautiful fire, I really like this fireplace it keeps the house warm and it is very chilly and windy outside.  Steve said that it worked so good that the air conditioner came on earlier!!  We put a fireplace in at our first house and it was nice but it sure didn’t put out the heat that this one does.

We played a game of Mexican Train, had a good time but quit a little early, the whole game takes a long time, I think we made it to the double nine.  I wanted to get a picture of Steve and Pam’s dog.  It is a black “puppy” that is about eight months old, give or take.  Bo is a very nice dog, I think he liked Sparky but Sparky is very shy so they didn’t get to play.

We got home about 10PM and watched the weather, supposed to be clear and warmer tomorrow, about 60 degrees but if the wind is blowing out of the north it probably won’t feel like 60.

Time to go to bed now and hopefully get a good nights sleep…Night Y’all..

Thursday November 25th 2010

Thanksgiving Day!!  It rained a little last night, not a lot but I could hear it on the roof a couple of times.  Thought it would be cool this morning but it has to be close to 70 already and the sun is just coming up.  I know we have a cold front coming through but not sure when.

Linda fixed here Tropical Slaw last night and this morning is fixing a green bean casserole.  We will pick up Aunt Virgie on the way over so I had to unload stuff from the trunk and back seat so we would have enough room for her and the wheel chair.  I should have had the car unloaded already but I guess I just don’t hurry, “this is Mississippi”.

We got the car loaded and headed over to pick up Aunt Virgie but I have seen some weird bugs and I took this picture….

100_1760

This was on the front of the camper, it is kind of big and really ugly.  They are plentiful around here, I’ve seen a lot of them.

When we got to Rick and Connie’s the house smelled really good, turkey and all that good stuff!!  It was plenty warm enough to sit outside in the shade.  It was cloudy but when the sun came out it really got hot.  I let Sparky run for quite awhile just to get him worn down.  Mike and Sharon came over at 1PM so it was time to eat.  Mike and Sharon are Rick and Connie’s cousins.  This is Mike…

100_1766

100_1765

Excellent dinner…I ate to much of course but UMMMM was it good. Steve and Anna Grace came over so Sparky got to go outside with Anna Grace and get worn down again.  Anna Grace said he wore her out, that is hard to believe.

Steve and I took Aunt Virgie back home about 4:30PM so she could get a nap.  She was really looking tired.  Aunt Virgie just turned 90 this summer. We stayed for awhile at Rick and Connie’s visiting but we were really tired so we decided to come home and relax, actually we took a nap for a couple hours then went to bed.  We couldn’t eat anything before bed, we were still full from lunch.  Sleep well Y’all….

Wednesday November 24th 2010

WOW!!  This has been quite a day!  I will start out saying the weather is beautiful, except for the fog and humidity but it’s warm!!!  Love it!!  Going to change though after tomorrow.  The cold front is coming in and it is going to cool off dramatically.

Sparky took to the camper like it was his second home.

We went to Wal Mart to get some groceries, nothing that has to be kept cold.  The guy was here at 8AM this morning and was about ready to start working on the counter top.  He told us not to worry about hurrying but we were out by 8:30AM to start doing stuff.

We came back to Paw Paw’s about 11:30AM and he had just finished with the counter top.  Looks better than the other one.  The last thing to check was the air conditioner and I know that they won’t do anything about it.

About 12:30PM the guy checked the air and he said it was working fine, I know that!!!  It doesn’t work fine though when it is hot out.  That’s my problem and they didn’t do any checking while it was hot out and they had plenty of time.  I figured that would be one of my problems.  Linda said did they check the slides and I said they probably didn’t but I want the camper back and I can fix the problems myself without the hassle.  Dave gave me a ride back to the camp ground so I wouldn’t have to go get the car carrier. I asked about the road work they were doing and he said this is Mississippi and they will get done sometime but they don’t hurry, guess I already knew that, they had our camper for five months!!

100_1753

Not sure if I put this picture in yesterday or not, well, I’m not real sure when I took the picture but Aunt Virgie likes Sparky.

We went to Rick and Connie’s for pizza tonight, Steve, Pam, Sarah and Anna Grace were there.  Anna Grace loves Sparky I think.  Sparky loves Anna Grace anyway.  They had a really good time together.

The pizza was great and everything else was too.  We had a really good visit but I got so tired I couldn’t hardly stay awake so I wasn’t much of a conversationalist last night. When we got home it didn’t take long after getting Sparky settled in for me to go to bed.  Going to write more tomorrow.  Sun Roamers RV park has wifi!!  So far it is working OK, not real fast but better than nothing!!  Night Y’all…..

Tuesday November 23rd 2010

OK now we are in Picayune, I am trying to remember what I wrote for yesterday.  Today is actually Wednesday and I haven’t had a chance to get online or on the computer either….

We got here Monday after Paw Paw’s was closed and we stayed in the camper on their lot….

100_1745

We have water and electric so we can manage.  We unloaded the car in the dark (of course this is tomorrow in this picture)  I think I put in the picture of the cabinet door (missing) and wondered what all they had done. Anyway we talked to Dave this morning to find out what was going on.  He said that they were coming right along with the repairs.  Well, they are going to work on it again tomorrow, I called and they said that they would have to do the counter top tomorrow.  It will take about four hours.  He finished the water heater and the booth and a few odd jobs.  Looks good.

We went to Rick and Connie’s and they had fixed Gumbo (Connie did).

100_1747

The Gumbo was delicious.  Connie makes the greatest red beans and rice also.  We had a good visit and some other friends from church stopped by and we had a good visit with them also.  Had cherry pie and ice cream for desert.

They were having church tonight instead of tomorrow because of Thanksgiving.  We knew we wouldn’t be able to make it.  When we got back to Paw Paw’s we had to look for our camper again.  It wasn’t parked in the same spot. They parked it so the guy (Lonnie) wouldn’t have to move it in the morning.

We got settled in again and I decided to fix pancakes again.  Sounded good and we don’t have a lot of other things. It was good.

Got a picture of a Skink…

100_1749

100_1750

Does Sparky look good wearing a flower??

100_1751

I don’t know what kind of flower this is but I thought it was pretty….

Well, I think we probably should go to bed, we have to be out of here at 8AM so they can change the counter.  They are supposed to check the air conditioner also…Hopefully we will be able to leave tomorrow…Night Y’all..

Monday November 22nd 2010

Today is the day we want to get on the road.  I got up pretty early and Sparky did to.  Sparky did pretty good, he tried to stay out of the way.  He stayed in the bedroom on a blanket most of the morning.  We finally got the car packed and got on the road about 9:15AM.  Not as early as we would have like but it was better than 10AM.

We tried letting Sparky ride up front with Linda.  He was OK for about 5 minutes and after that he didn’t want to be held so when we got to Matthews, about 7 miles, I stopped and put him in the cage.  He whimpered a little but not to bad.  We stopped in West Memphis and let him out.  He did his job and I put him back in his cage.  He rode the rest of the way to Picayune in his cage and didn’t make any fuss all the way down.  When we got to Picayune though he was ultra hyper!!!  It took about an hour or more for him to get settled down.

Here is a picture Linda took of our Tom Tom…..100_1739

Not a real good picture but we have 31.9 miles to go to get to Picayune. Right after she took this picture it  changed to night time brightness.

We kept calling Paw Paw’s to see if the camper was done and to let them know that we probably wouldn’t be there until after they closed so later this afternoon we called back and they said they will have the camper hooked up and we can go ahead and camp at Paw Paw’s for the night anyway. The said they had done a lot of work, not sure where but will find out tomorrow.

100_1744

Not sure where our door is but it isn’t where it is supposed to be.  There was a problem with it but it was just a couple of loose screws on the hinge. Oh well, will find out tomorrow.

Here is Sparky finally worn out…

100_1742

100_1730

This was our supper from last night, forgot I had a picture of my Cheerios!!

We are going to settle in and watch some TV, they did get the coax fixed!! TV works great…Going to bed after the news and weather.  Oh, it was up to 80 degrees on the way down and here it is in the 70s.  Nice!

Good night Y’all….

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Sunday November 21st 2010

It is supposed to get warm today and I thought sunny but it is cool out and very cloudy.  As the morning progresses it is getting warmer.  Went to church at Miner this morning.  Thanksgiving is really close.  Guess I don’t pay much attention to this holiday.  I figured it was in a couple of weeks.  Time is flying by.

Church service was nice.  It was really different.  It was out of second Corinthians and was about Paul in, I am going to say Corinth but that wasn’t the city and I’m not going to try to spell it!!   The gist of the sermon was he didn’t accept any pay there and the non Christians said that he wasn’t a preacher at all but he said he accepted money from other places so he wasn’t indebted to them and wanted to give them the Gospel because of his love for them and God’s love for them.  Well, during the sermon the preacher stopped about three times for the people to reflect and thank God for the people in their lives and the things that God has given them etc.  It was different and interesting.

This afternoon I was kind of hungry for chicken and we had a couple breasts in the freezer that I wanted to get used up before tomorrow so we wouldn’t have to take them or leave them in the freezer.   We had an onion and a bag of baby carrots that I used also and a can of cream of chicken soup….. doesn’t look very good but was delicious!!

100_1726

We had a baked potato along with this.   I over ate again.  Something that seems to happen all to often.

Tonight I went to church at Friendship Baptist in Sikeston.  I saw Ken there, we worked together at Miner Police Department.  Also saw Harold, who stayed at Hinton RV Park while he was building his house.  We were working there at the time.

Back home I decided it was time to start loading the car.  I have almost all my stuff packed and ready to put in the car.  Linda hasn’t started yet and she likes to sleep in in the morning.  Wonder what time we will get on the road???  We will probably watch a little TV tonight and go to bed. Hope she gets her bag packed before bed, I know she won’t want to get up at 6AMSmile  Night y’all…

Saturday November 20th 2010

It looks like a miserable day today, very foggy and chilly.  It is supposed to get into the 60s today, sure hope it does!  We invited Jim and June over for a visit.  We try to do that when we are home.  They got here at 9AM and I had the coffee ready and they brought the donuts.  We really had a good visit.  They left about noon.  We had a few things to do in town.  I needed to get some Rid X for the septic tank.  I like to put stuff in there when we leave for an extended period.  This should be an extended period.  I also picked up some six foot one by two boards for the roof in the garage.  I think that when it rains it gets water in the corrugated parts of the roof and it leaks.  I also wanted to put some more caulking on it but it looks like the weather won’t cooperate with me on that part.

I got the boards up in the garage and also washed the car.  The car really needed it and I was going to use the power washer on it but couldn’t get it started.   The gas was probably old and need some new stuff in it.  I also wanted to get the gas out of the chain saws so it would gel or whatever in the winter.  I may have to finish that tomorrow.

Well, chili one more time.  We both had a bowl and that finished it up.  Still as good as the first time.  I also finished up the raw broccoli and cauliflower with some dressing.  Quite good!

Sparky is doing well, still likes to use those sharp teeth on the hands, don’t like that but he is just playing, hopefully he will grow out of that.

Linda’s glucose is still doing quite well, It is staying pretty low and that is good.

Well, we will watch a little TV then head to bed, No pictures today, maybe tomorrow but I doubt it….Night Y’all……

Friday November 19th 2010

Today is cool and windy.  I hope it isn’t to windy to burn.  That is what I am planning to do today.  I think I will be able to.

I got some of the termite boards from the front yard and cut them up then split them into small pieces to start the fire.  I don’t have a lot of dry wood to use so this will have to do to get it started.  After starting it I have plenty of green wood to throw on it to burn….

100_1980

Got it started…

100_1981

It is burning pretty good, if I had about six months it would probably burn

the stump but it is really to green to burn.  Hopefully the heat will kill it enough that the suckers won’t come out this Spring.  I wasn’t going to saw up this part of the tree, I was going to leave it for next year but I just couldn’t help myself.  My new Poulon Pro saw is working like a champ.  The more I use it the better I like it.  I’m not saying I like it better than the Might Mac but it sure starts good and it also saws good.  I’m still getting used to it but the more I use it the better I like it and the easier it is to use.

I let the fire burn after dark but  it was mostly embers and not much flame. That is good, don’t want to many sparks flying around.  I old Linda I will have to get a mall and some wedges to split the large pieces that I can’t hardly roll.   Probably should get an axe also. Next year…

Linda and I had chili again tonight and it was as good as last night.  Love chili!!!

Thursday November 18th 2010

It is not a nice day out today, it is cloudy and windy.  Linda has a doctor appointment this morning with Dr Pfefferkorn.  He is a good Christian man.  I got her up early so she could get ready.  I always have to spend the first hour or so with Sparky to get him worn down so I can do my reading and computing.  He is a real pistol right after he wakes up.  Hands and feet are the main target for play.  His needle sharp teeth really hurt.

I checked the fire out at the stump this morning and it is still smoldering even after the rain.  There must have been at least a ton of wood burnt but still have about thirty tons left.  Got lots of wood to burn.

Got in to see the doctor on time and he checked her pulse and blood pressure and looked at her log for the glucose level for the last three months.  Talked for awhile and then renewed her two prescriptions and we left.  Cost $77 for that visit.  After the first of the year she will be able to get a physical and I will probably get one also.  Been two years for me and longer than that for Linda.

We stopped at the vets and picked up medicine for Sparky because we won’t be here to take him in.  That was over $100!!!  He is getting expensive for a free dog.

We bought a bookcase (cheap) from Wal Mart and we put it together when I got home.  It has five shelves…

100_1725

That space in the next to the top shelf is the only open space.  These books were all in bags on the floor.  I think this was a pretty good idea if I do say so myself.  I think most of these books will never be read again but at least they are put up out of the way.

Linda made a delicious pot of chili again tonight.  Big enough that we can have it for a few more days.. we really like chili

Not a lot going on tonight, we will watch a little TV and then go to bed.  Sparky has been doing excellent.  He sleeps in his cage and sleeps all night!!!  YES!!  Usually puppies will howl and while and bark when they are left alone but he has been excellent.  He is learning that his jobs are to be done outside and not in the house.  He has had two little accidents, which we caught before he really went so we are very happy.  He isn’t sometimes when he has to go out though.

Well, time to go to bed, tomorrow I want to do a little more burning if it doesn’t rain…Night Y’all…..

Wednesday November 17th 2010

It isn’t raining this morning but it is cool.  I know that there are things to do outside like the trees that I cut down still need to be cleaned up and  I think I will try to burn some of them.

Even though it is cool outside I sure work up a sweat carrying these pieces that I cut up.  It is coming along pretty good…

100_1720

100_1721

I have the field cleaned up and also the neighbors yard.  I kind of like this kind of work.  I started a fire near the last stump trying to get rid of it.  I think I probably burnt a ton of wood but the stump is still there.  Will take a long time to get rid of these stumps….

100_1723

The big pieces I couldn’t get on the fire so I will probably start a fire around them.  The really big pieces I will probably cut again so I will be able to handle them a little better.

I finally quit about 4PM and went in.  Linda gave me a haircut which was really needed.  She fixed some hamburger patties for supper and I baked a couple of potatoes.  Great supper.

I went to church at Kewanee Baptist tonight.  Good service, about service. Had some really good points about sharing the Gospel.

We watched TV tonight, again, one of our relaxing past times.  Went to bed about 10:30PM for some well deserved sleep..Night Y’all…

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Tuesday November 16th 2010

It’s raining today and it is very cool out.   This is the kind of weather that I don’t like.  Rain is OK but rain and cold, I just freeze but Linda is taking it worse than I am.  She just can’t keep warm.  She is looking in a campground directory to see about a place in South Texas called Tip O Texas where Don and LaVon are.  We still aren’t sure where we will spend the winter.  Part will be in Mississippi I know that for sure, well, pretty sure. Things can change in an instant.

We went into town today to take care of a few things. Had to stop at the Social Security Office and ask a question, had to fill up with gas, and I was going to wash the car but it never stopped raining, maybe driving in the rain helped clean it off a little.

My repair job in the garage leaks, what a bummer.  I thought for sure I had it fixed but no such luck.  I will try a few more things.

We stopped at the campground we used to work at, Hinton RV Park in Sikeston, to get a propane tank filled.  The guy that filled it told me they had come up from Tallahatchie MS to work here.  I asked if they knew Jim and Gail Jumpa, they did, what a small world.  We stopped in Tallahatchie in September on the way to Picayune.  I’m not sure if they were still there or not.

When we got home we, Linda, fixed some turkey and noodles…..

100_1718

I love turkey and noodles!!!  HMMMM, sounds familiar.

I couldn’t move any of the wood, because I would have gotten wet in the rain and probably melted.  We took it easy the rest of the day, watched our shows, Tuesday night of course. They were pretty good but they were continued, I don’t like that.  Guess it shouldn’t matter, I wouldn’t miss it now if I didn’t see the rest of the show.  Well, that about says it all for today. Linda’s blood glucose has been doing excellent.  She has an appointment with the Dr on Thursday which will probably cost $100 and won’t know any more than we do now… That is faith in the doctors isn’t it? Well, the one in Branson would probably have been better, in fact I’m sure about that but she made this appointment and cancelled the other one so we will stay here until Monday when we will probably leave for Picayune.

Time for bed Y’all ….. Night Night…

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Monday November 15th 2010

Well lets see now, it is very cool this morning but dry, I think that it is supposed to rain tonight or tomorrow.  I’ve got one more tree to cut down.  Not looking forward to this one.  This is a big one and very tall, straight tall, not leaning like the other ones.  I keep looking at it trying to figure out which way I would like it to fall, knowing nothing about cutting down trees, this one may fall where ever it feels like.  I figure I will have to use a ladder and start about seven feet up.  The bottom is way to big to try to cut right now.  I think once I get it down I will burn around it and let it die, then maybe cut on it some more.  Went out about 9:30 and got the saw ready and my ladder.  I cut a big wedge out of the side where I wanted it to fall.  Then I cut on the other side and got almost all the way through and I heard it start cracking, gotta RUN!!  I got back to the garage and it was still standing.  Oh no, what am I going to do now???  I had a little hatchet so I thought I would pound the wedge into one side and see what would happen. I was standing by it, contemplating, and then it started to crack again so guess what??? I RAN!!!  I had no idea where it would fall.  When I got far enough away I turned and looked and it was falling to the South, just where I wanted it!!!  Amazing!!

100_1710

This is pretty much exactly where I wanted it.  It fell right next to the other stump so I won’t have to cut it all up.  The part between the stumps I will leave for another year and a time when I need the exercise.  I had to take a picture of the stump…

100_1711

That little piece at the top is the only thing that was not sawn through!  This tree was almost perfectly centered up and down.  That’s my hand at the bottom, no, I have four fingers yet.  This tree had me worried though I was really apprehensive about cutting it down but now that it is over I am glad that I did it and didn’t pay someone a grand to do it.  Takes me to the Poulon Pro chain saw… I bought it as a factory refurbished saw.  Can’t say it was the best $120 I ever spent but it does work very good.  Has some bad points but I can work through that.  The saw did fall the seven feet to the ground when the tree went down but I used it for a few hours after that and it did great.  Does a lot better cutting down that it does cutting across a tree when it is standing.

100_1714

After working for about five hours I think I have most of it out of the field and I still have a lot in the neighbors yard to clean up.  I have five more days and I think I will get a lot of it, the rest can wait for next Spring or this winter if we happen to stay here.

I wrote yesterday that Linda started a turkey for today…..

I didn’t get a picture of it when it looked good but it sure tasted good!  I love turkey!!  I love food!  We had an excellent supper of turkey, baked potato and cranberry sauce.  Now I could have really pigged out but I only ate about half of it!!  Not really… It was delicious!  We have enough left for about eight or ten more meals…..

We are just going to take it easy tonight.  I need to rest, I am tired again. I really think I will probably quit working like this within the next twenty years, I get pretty sore but I sure enjoy doing this kind of work.

Watched TV tonight and took it easy.  Night Y’all..

Sunday November 14th 2010

It is cold this morning, checked the burn pile to see what was happening there and it is pretty well out but there are still a few hot spots but really no fire and not much smoke.  Looks like it will be OK.

Went to church at Miner again today. Pastor Jackson is a pretty good preacher.  He preached out of Mark 2:18-25.  Made some good comparisons of marriage to this passage. It was interesting.

We don’t have any plans for today just stay home and take it easy.  It is getting warm this afternoon and Sparky likes being outside in the sun.  He sure doesn’t like it when it is cold!!  My kind of dog.  I fixed some spaghetti for supper today and tried some store bought Alfredo Sauce.  Not very good.  I went back to the Olive Oil and seasoning after that.

We were taking it easy and Sparky went to sleep on the sofa.  He looks pretty comfortable…

Guess he likes his “duck”.

He also likes his cage but I’m afraid we will have to get one that is a little bigger than this one..

Linda is putting a turkey in the oven this evening.  She will let it cook all night and we will have it tomorrow afternoon.  Love turkey!!

Well, it is time for bed, not a real busy day.  Oh, I went back to church tonight at Miner, was interesting. Will probably go to Kewanee on Wednesday night.   Night Y’all….

Saturday November 13th 2010

Looks like another really nice day.  I won’t do anymore cutting on the trees today.  I have plenty cut and want to get some of it burnt.  Sparky comes first though.  He has to go out and then play for about an hour and I am really surprised that when he is finished playing he wants to go back into his cage.  That is good.  We don’t have to worry about when he get up. He will let us know when he is ready then we can take him out.  It did rain or is raining this morning but it is still warm.  I figure with the rain things would be OK to burn today.  Not much wind but what there is is blowing out of the South.  I started the fire and had a good fire around the stump and hopefully it will burn it down pretty good but then it is green, at least part of it.  Later in the afternoon the sun came out and the wind changed to the West.  That is good, the field in back of us is tilled and nothing there will burn so I started the brush pile on fire also.  About 5PM the wind picked up and really gave the fire a lot of Oxygen so it burnt pretty good. Linda told me that the fire ban was still in effect so  I figured I better put the fire out about 8PM.  Sure wish I could have left it burning, it was really doing good. but the wind then changed to a North wind and that isn’t to good with the sparks and all.  I used quite a bit of water on it but got it pretty well put out.

We had left overs for supper again and the biscuits and gravy were just as good or even better than last night.  YUMMY!!!

We watched a move, “Troy” with Brad Pitt and it was pretty good then we decided to go to bed.

Linda’s glucose level has been doing pretty good.  Ranges from the high 80s to 120.  Can’t figure out why the big difference.  She is glad, and so am I, that it isn’t really high.

Time for bed…Night Y’all…

Friday November 12th 2010

I am supposed to get my new chain saw today.  Not sure when they will deliver it so I figure I might as well go get some gas, oil mix and some diesel fuel (to start fires).  I was gone about 15 minutes and when I got back it was sitting on the back porch.  Time to try to put it together….

This wasn’t easy, all I had to do was put the bar and chain on. Well, I had a hard time getting the cover off to put the bar on!  If they don’t explain things it is really hard.  It has a safety device, called a kick back protector, and it needed to be reset but they didn’t explain that.  When I finally got it off I figured out how to reset it because it would not go back together without resetting it.  After getting it together I filled it with gas and oil and proceeded to try to start it.  Not like Might Mac!  No primer, no accelerator(?) not sure what you call it but it didn’t work.  Anyway, after a lot of trying I got it started, not sure how I did it but after starting it a few times I figured it out.  The choke is the thing that gives it the gas plus choking at the same time.    First time I used it I kind of thought this was a mistake. Should have gotten an expensive one, but, it does do a good job on the logs laying down and the extra six inches of bar and chain really help getting through the big ones.  Here is another picture of the third one to hit the dust!!!!

I didn’t plan on the tree falling this way but I figured it would because most of the weight was leaning in that direction.  The last tree standing will be different because it is almost straight up and down.  This took a pretty good size branch off the neighbors tree and I told them about it.  They didn’t care, it really wasn’t theirs anyway.

The tree in the middle will be the last to come down.  Will be nice to get them all down then I can plant an oak tree or something back there. I did a lot of cutting and most of the pieces are to big for me to move  The will be gone in a couple of yearsSmile.

:Linda took a few more pictures of Sparky….

I thought he looked cute here.  He likes it under the deck for some reason.

100_1956

He has finally learned how to come up the steps by himself. He is really getting fast!  When we play in the morning he really gets hyper and runs like crazy and likes to bite…100_1969

First blood!!!  His needle sharp teeth punctures skin pretty easy…

Well, I quit cutting wood about 5PM.  I was beat!   I think I will be able to finish cutting it up before we have to leave.

Linda fixed hamburger gravy and I fixed biscuits.  I used coconut oil to  make the biscuits and they really turned out good.  Hamburger gravy has to be one of my favorites.  I think that is from when I was young.   My Mother used to make hamburger gravy and we had potatoes every day, not the hamburger gravy though.  Sounds strange but the first time I saw a steak without flour on it was when I was in the service.  I didn’t say anything but it sure didn’t look good, didn’t look like Mom’s steak!!

I am going to take it easy tonight, hope I won’t be sore in the morning!!  Night Y’all….
