Tuesday February 28th 2012

The time is just flying by, almost the end of February already!

The weather is really nice this morning, the wind is blowing like crazy but it isn’t to warm or to cold and it is supposed to warm up to around 85 today.  We probably won’t need the air conditioner on so we will leave the windows open.

We took a ride today to Home Depot to check and see if we could get a part for the oven.  Not here, but we tried a place that sold parts for appliances and we needed the model and serial numbers. I called Bernie and he gave us what he thought was the numbers but they didn’t have anything even close to those numbers.  The plate with the numbers has been scratched so bad you can’t hardly see the numbers.

We checked at Conn’s furniture and they have an apartment size stove but it is for natural gas, if they change it to propane I think we may buy that one.  I tried to get the thermo couple out and I’m not sure that it is removable so I don’t think that it would do any good to get a new one.

We stopped at the H.E.B Plus to look around…

112_3509

This is almost like a Wal Mart!  They sure have a lot of stuff here.  We didn’t buy very much just looked around.

Not a lot going on tonight.  Thought I would check on the computer for stoves or stove parts but didn’t have much luck.  The computer doesn’t work very fast at night so I didn’t get much satisfactions.  Time to go to bed I guess….Night Y’all..

Monday February 27th 2012

It is cloudy today but supposed to warm up to around 85 I think, sure doesn’t feel like it right now!!

The line dancing class is this morning and I want to go.  Linda doesn’t go anymore but I think I may be able to teach her when we get home.  By the time the class was over I was about soaked!  It isn’t that hard and it isn’t that hot but it sure is humid!

We had a gathering at the dog park today.  Sparky gets along fairly well with the other dogs, mostly he is scared of them but he is getting closer now so maybe he will play with them, I doubt it!

Peter Piper Pizza day today.  We decided to go ahead and go for pizza. The salads are good but I’ve had better pizza.  The fellowship is really nice though…

112_3507

I think about thirty five showed up for pizza, had a good time!

We came right back to the camper.

The temperature is still going up, I started the air conditioner before we left for pizza and I’m glad I did.  I think it is about 85 and really humid.  The air feels really good.

About 8PM I finally shut off the air and opened the camper.  It is still humid and muggy but the temperature is going down so it is pretty comfortable. Should be a good night for sleeping…Night Y’all….

Sunday February 26th 2012

It is cloudy and kind of cool this morning.  I think it is done raining though and that is good.

Went to church at Mission FBC. I wasn’t really with it today for some reason.  Not sure why but I was kind of spacing today.

I thought that I would grill out tonight so I got the ground pork out for burgers.  Need to thaw it out first.

Today was the birthday and anniversary day!  Cake and ice cream.  Good cake for sure.  We sat with a couple from Wisconsin, his name is Ed and hers is Joan (I think) and we had a great time exchanging stories.  We were almost the last ones to leave there.  Had a really good time.  Ed and Joan also do the line dancing.

I started the charcoal for the burgers and Bernie and Eleanor stopped by to take a look at our camper.  They are easy to please.  They say if they come down next year they would like to rent our camper.  I think it is kind of small for them and they might have a hard time in it but they thought that it would be great!  They used to camp in a very small 5th wheel camper that was worse or smaller than this.  We will see what happens next Fall when it is time to come down here.  If they are able and want to we will bring the camper back down, if they don’t come we will just come down in the car.

Linda asked if they wanted to stay for supper and they said they already had theirs in the crock pot at home.  Linda said if they wanted we could share and we took our stuff over there and we shared our food.  Excellent food for sure, Eleanor fixed baked beans and we had a great time.  We finished our game of Mexican Train and then played  a couple hands of Skip-Bo!  We had a good time and left there about 9:45PM.  Time to get home and get to bed….Night Y’all…

Saturday February 25th 2012

Had to get up kind of early this morning, line dancing practice starts at 8:30AM because they have a craft sale at 10:00AM.

Can’t believe I like line dancing!  It is fun and for some reason I really work up a sweat and it isn’t really very strenuous!  We all seem to work up a sweat.  She taught us a new dance today called “bootie call” which really isn’t to hard but I still have a hard time remembering the steps.  Still had fun though.

Even though it is cool this morning it is warming up.  I have been wearing my insulated shirt and it works out nicely.

Well today is another day that we aren’t going to do much.  Haven’t done much of anything that is worth taking pictures of, well, not really, I forget about taking pictures even though I have the camera with me.  The other day I was trying to take pictures of Sparky and Angel (dog) playing in the dog park and the camera wouldn’t work!  Bummer!  I finally figured out it SD Card was full and so was the internal memory.  Had to come home and get rid of the pictures!  Now I can take more pictures!

Watch a little TV and take it easy the rest of the day…Night Y’all…

Friday February 24th 2012

OK I’ve been neglecting my blog for awhile now again I have to try to remember what we did for the last few days!!!

Well today is usually our coffee klatch but they are having biscuits and gravy this morning and I know Linda isn’t going and I don’t think I will go either.  It is pretty cool this morning and I think, if I remember right, it is raining!  Sparky got up late so we only had to go out in the light rain, sprinkles, and he still got wet but it didn’t take him long.  I am surprised that we are getting so much rain, which is really needed.  I think they are ahead of the rainfall for the year by an inch or so and this is only February.  If it is like last year it didn’t rain for about nine months so it was really dry.  Farmers are really hurting.

Went to Wal Mart and I picked up some bulbs for the rear of the camper. I have a running light that is burnt out and I need to replace it.  I drove all the way from Sikeston down here without that light.  Never drove much at night though.  One of these days I will replace it, hopefully before we go home!

We watched a movie that I bought at the flea market.  Had to laugh at some of the parts.  Not a real good quality movie but we saw it anyway.  I didn’t like it.  The name was Hugo and it really wasn’t my kind of movie.

I can’t remember if we did anything else today.  It was pretty quiet, cool, and a good day to stay inside!  Night Y’all…

Thursday February 23rd 2012

Got up early this morning.  It is kind of cool and really cloudy and foggy!  Supposed to get up to 90 today, give or take.

We got ready to go and checked out where we were going to meet. Going to meet and Judy’s and follow them.  Well, things changed, we are going to ride with John and Judy.  That will be nice.  Perry was also with us.

We got to the Santa Anna Wildlife Refuge around 9AM.  Our tram ride starts at 9:30AM so we have time to get tickets and use the rest room.  The ride lasts an hour and a half.  There are twenty three of us that car pooled.

112_3486

Almost all of the people on the tram are from Seldom Rest Ranch.  Linda and I sat in the back seat.  Notice Ken and Dee have their jackets on?  It is really chilly!  No where near 90 and I don’t think it is even close to 70!  I thought about bringing a jacket but why?  90 is supposed to be very warm!

We had a nice time riding through the park but we didn’t really see very much in the way of wild life or birds except the turkey buzzards!

112_3494

Cant see them very well but they are on the Mexico side of the Rio Grande River.  I think there is a dead cow there, “lunch time”..

We stopped after we left the park, at a little restaurant called the Alamo Restaurant in Alamo.  Linda and I got a breakfast some of the others had Mexican food.  I liked mine some of the others didn’t like theirs.

When we got back to the camper (I had the air conditioner on for Sparky) we thought it would be nice to take a nap.  We left the air on because it was so muggy out and it did warm up, didn’t get close to 90 though.

All in all I think we had a pretty good day. They have game night at the club house tonight but I don’t think I will go.  I haven’t gone to any of them yet.   Night Y’all…

Wednesday February 22nd 2012

It is cloudy this morning but I think it is supposed to get pretty warm.  Right now it is almost perfect.  Going to have a couple of really warm days, tomorrow is supposed to get close to 90 degrees!

We don’t have much of anything planned for today, I guess Wal Mart but not sure about that.  I took a couple of pictures of some Cana Lilies, in back of the place we will buy and I’ve never seen any but red…

000_0005

I’ve never seen yellow ones but then I haven’t seen a lot of red one either. I thought this was unique though with a red one mixed in with the yellow. Here is one that is just red…

000_0006

Well, we didn’t do much today. Sparky and I did a lot of walking and he got to play in the dog run with other dogs which he is getting used to now.  He doesn’t know how to play with other dogs very well but he is learning.  He was in with Bell and Spot, a black lab and a golden lab and they happen to get a little frisky and barked at each other and that really scared Sparky and he jumped up in Norlita’s lap and was really shaking but he got over it pretty fast when he figured out “he” wasn’t being attacked!

I almost turned the air conditioner on this afternoon. It is really warm and humid but we toughed it out.

I almost forgot to mention that we car pooled to a restaurant called Gonzales Burgers.  We hadn’t heard about it before but thought it may be a nice place to try.  Take a look at the burgers…

112_3476

Kind of hard to see but they are really big, bet each one weighs close to a pound!  Linda and I split one.

112_3480

We definitely had enough to eat.  Had a good time too.

112_3477

The place is kind of small and it took about an hour to get our food but we still had a good time!

I walked over to the club house and played bingo tonight.  I may be dense but I can’t figure out why people think the game is so great.  I thought it was kind of boring but the popcorn was good.  Oh, I didn’t win anythingSad smile.

Will watch some TV tonight and go to bed, we have to get up early for the trip to the Santa Anna Bird Sanctuary…..Night Y’all..

Tuesday February 21st 2012

Today is nice but very foggy this morning.  It isn’t cold but a very nice and cool.  I am wearing my insulated shirt and it feels very good.

We are going to Pulga today, a flea market a couple of miles from here, with Dale and Velda. I want to return something and they said to bring it back if it didn’t work.  Hopefully they will exchange it. We stayed at the flea market until around 11:30AM, then we decided to go to a Chinese Buffet…

112_3472

We’ve been wanting to try this place.  Dale and Velda told us about it and it was pretty good.

After lunch we went back home and I sat outside and tried reading.  It isn’t easy with Sparky wanting attention but I did some reading until I couldn’t stay awake!

I decided to go for a walk and Vicki was in the dog run with her two small dogs so I brought Sparky in and the two dogs chased Sparky around the dog run.  I think he enjoyed it but he was scared of them and they were a lot smaller than him.

I checked the mail and Eleanor asked me to sit and visit for awhile so I talked with her for about a half hour then Paul had his dog Angel out so we went to the dog park again and they did play for awhile, they are both chicken dogs but they ran around for quite awhile.  We were still in the park when Linda and Norlita came around.

We stopped and talked to Bernie and Eleanor and Linda and Eleanor went to the Happy Hour and I stayed and talked to Bernie.  We made plans to come back over about seven and play Mexican Train.  We haven’t played that since we were in Mississippi a couple of years ago!

112_3474

This is the place we will be buying from them.  Bernie had his son or grandson send the paper work down.  It wasn’t the right paperwork so Eleanor is calling back to have him get the right stuff.  When they get it we will sign the papers and get all that kind of stuff done.  They will be leaving almost the same time we are so they will stay there and we will stay in our camper.  Time is flying this winter, we only have a little more than three weeks left, well maybe four weeks.  The time will came really fast to get  back on the road again and head home.  We were going to leave the 15th of March but we may wait until the 19th.  That should give us enough time to get home and get a bunch of stuff done.

We got back to the camper around 10:15 and I took Sparky for a walk and then it was time to go to bed….Night Y’all..

Monday February 20th 2012

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood!  It is going to get warm today I think.

Linda wanted to go for pizza at Peter Piper Pizza so we asked Dale and Velda if they were going and they were so they asked if we wanted to ride with them.  Sounds great!

Before the pizza thing they are having a grand opening for the NEW dog run the owner built.  There is going to be a ribbon cutting ceremony and treats for the dogs and the humans (if we like dog treats)!.  Not really they had cupcakes and they were really good.

112_3467

This is Dale holding Tucker and Velda on her scooter and Judy, well Sparky had to get into the picture too!  Bob and Pete are by the golf cart, Bob is the owner, very nice guy.

112_3469

In this picture Mary is inside with Hanna and Harley, Harley is so small you can’t hardly see him. On the bench is Norlita and the dog is champ, not her dog but she is going to cut the ribbon.  On the right bench is Jim and Reba and Jim’s wife Brigette which probably isn’t spelled right and it isn’t pronounced like Bridgette.  Going into the gate is Sheryl.  They are from Missouri, around St Louis I think.

Pizza was pretty good.  It isn’t as good as a lot of places but it is nice for about 30 or 40 people to get together and eat.

We are going to the club house tonight, they are having Lonesome Dove tonight and we are supposed to be able to dance, well, I’m wrong in both cases.  They changed the seating so there is very little space and the Lonesome Dove was alone the rest of the band couldn’t make it.  He was pretty good and Sandy sang a couple of songs and she is a good singer.

We didn’t get home until 9PM so I had to take Sparky for a walk then we watched Castle.  Good show.

Time to go to be now though….Night Y’all…

Sunday February 19th 2012

Today is supposed to be a really nice day.  It is usually cool in the morning but warms up nicely.

We went to church at Mission FBC again today.  Another great day at church.

Linda wants to go see the “Renaissance Rockers” this afternoon so I guess we will go there.  It is hard to believe that the lead singer with the American flag on his T shirt is a brain surgeon!!  His name is Carlos…

112_3457

The band was really good, Linda and I even danced a couple of dances…

112_3458

We got to do a line dance that we learned yesterday, we weren’t very good at it but there were so many people out there I don’t think anyone cared what anyone else did!  We had a really good time.

We left the dance around 4:30PM as the sun was starting to go down and it was really getting chilly out.

Well, I took a picture of Mary doing the alligator dance.  I don’t think I would do what she did but she is kind of crazy!!!

112_3460

Mary was the only one that did this and the band wanted her to do the “Proud Mary Dance”  where she rolls on the floor.  She didn’t want to get dirty and her rug wasn’t big enoughSmile

We will take it easy tonight again.  Watch a little TV and to bed…Night Y’all…

Saturday February 18th 2012

Now I am four days behind on the blog so I will have to try to remember what happened on these days.

I know we had “line dancing” practice this morning and for some reason I really like line dancing, I’m not good at it but it is fun.  I don’t know how to do any dances so this is something I can learn, hopefully!

I think today is going to be a pretty nice day, sun is shining and it is going to get warm.

We went to HEB today to get groceries.  We had some coupons for free stuff so we bought quite a bit of stuff, only needed salsa and ended up spending a lot more.  Now if I have repeated this from a couple of days ago I’m sorry I just can’t remember what all we did and when we did it.

I think it was a pretty easy day today, not much going on so I will sign off for now….Night Y’all…

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Friday February 17th 2012

It is supposed to rain today and be cloudy but it is supposed to get up into the eighties!  I think I can handle that!

We had the coffee klatch this morning, had a great time, Jim and Sue hosted it and there was almost a record number there!  I think I counted twenty five which for coffee is a pretty good number!

Kermit had the bible study again this morning.  Bernie, Sue, Kermit and I were the only ones there but it was still a great time of studying God’s Word.  We have some pretty good discussions, well, I ask questions because I am curious about things, some of which really doesn’t matter but I’m still curious.  One of my questions was what does “Christ” mean. I always figured that was His name but it is a title and that is what I was curious about.  Sue found it in her concordance.  Very interesting!

We had kind of a weird afternoon, my spell check is doing something I’ve never seen it do!!  I spelled weird “I before E except after C” and it corrected it! I am amazed!  Back to the weird day.   Linda and I visited with Bernie and Eleanor and Bernie gave me some more information on what all to do and what needs to be done to the house.  That wasn’t weird, very enjoyable really.  Linda went to find out where the “Happy Hour” was but it wasn’t today, I think Cindy made sure that it happened every day!  Anyway she stopped to see Norlita and they spent there time talking and I went over later and talked to Andre.  Very nice couple from Quebec.  He is French Canadian and she is Phillipino but is a resident of Canada. Very fun people to talk to and very interesting.  She gave us some Phillipino noodles to try…they were delicious!!!

OK, back to the day.  I checked the mail and I got the last of my LED lights.  I am really curious to see what they look like.  The last round ones I bought were to big for the light fixtures and these have three more LEDs than the others have.  After opening the package and looking at them, they are smaller!!  I put one in and it is brighter than the larger ones, actually I think it is as bright as the halogen bulbs!  Here is what they look like…

112_3455

They are smaller than a quarter and they fit almost perfectly!!  I can read with these.  Guess they don’t really look like lights but they sure are bright and the price was about $2.30 apiece compared to the ones at Camping World for $38 apiece! Does it make you wonder why we buy stuff from China?  I’ve changed all the lights in the camper now to LED except for the shower light and the closet light.  I’m happy with most of them but some aren’t very bright but for a camper they work great.  I think I’ve spent about $60 on LED lights but I have quite a few left over that I won’t be using.

Linda asked Sue for some help on the “line dancing” steps and she said that she would help.  We went over to their place about 6:30PM and Nancy, the dance instructor, came over and we went over some of the steps and I think we are getting better but a long ways from being good.  We have practice again tomorrow. We will see if we can remember what we learned.

Not much going on tonight, the weather report says we may have some thunder storms tonight and tomorrow is supposed to be really windy.  We don’t have our awning out and won’t put it out.  Guess some people don’t care.  They leave theirs out.

Time to say Night Y’all….

Thursday February 16th 2012

It is very warm and humid this morning.  The temp is only about seventy but it sure feels warmer.

We needed some salsa so we decided to go to HEB for it.  We looked all over the store and ended up buying seventy five dollars worth of groceries!  With the coupons we only spent fifty three dollars.  Some of the stuff we needed most we could have done without.  It was kind of fun looking around the store though.

We didn’t do much else today.  I think Linda went to the Happy Hour for a short visit.  She didn’t stay though.

Not much else going on today, we stayed home and relaxed.  Linda had made pork burritos the were very good.

Time to say Night Y’all….

Wednesday February 15th 2012

I think we will have a pretty nice day today.  I think it is going to get warm and maybe have some sunshine!

We don’t have anything planned for today just hanging out.

I took a picture of the place we are planning on buying.  It is not a new place and it is small but will be a lot bigger than our camper…

112_3453

The place is small inside but comfortable.  It has a car port and a screened in porch.  Both things we wanted.  Inside it has a regular refrigerator and the shower is a little bigger than ours.  It also has an oven even though it is apartment size it is a lot bigger than our convection oven.  I think we will like it.

I will have to take a picture of Bernie and Eleanor.  They are super people but she has some physical problems and he is getting older and if they come back down they will rent a place.  We told them if they planned on coming back down that we didn’t have to buy it but they are ready to sell.

For all the free time I have I sure don’t post my blogs in a very timely manner….  Night Y’all…

Tuesday February 14th 2012

Happy Valentine Day!!!  OK I’m not a romantic so enough of that!

It is cloudy this morning but not nearly as cold.  It is supposed to get up around eight today.  Sun will have to come out to make it up that high.

We don’t have a lot planned for today, going to go out to eat with Dale and Velda at Freebirds. It is a Mexican restaurent that we went to out in Santa Barbara with Kim and Jacob.  This didn’t seem familiar to me but then it has been a couple of years since we’ve eaten there.  The food was pretty good, Linda and I both got a carnitas burrito, Velda got Quesada's  which probably isn’t spelled right and she also got some nachos.  Dale got a chicken burrito I think.  I thought it was pretty good but a little expensive. We had a good time though.

The sun came out this afternoon and it got really warm.  We need to enjoy this because it won’t last.  Tomorrow night it is supposed to cool off again and rain.

I sat outside for quite awhile and gave Sparky his bone that we saved for him.

Not much else going on today, had enough to eat for lunch that I just had a PBJ sandwich for supper and some cookies.

That is about it….Night Y’all..

Monday February 13th 2011

This morning is warmer but still cloudy and cool but supposed to warm up this afternoon and the sun is supposed to come out.

I texted Daniel to see if it was snowing up there yet and he said it was and in the middle thirties so I had to rub in the fact that it was about seventy here!!  We have gotten a lot of rain which was what Texas needs.  They are about seventeen inches behind on rainfall, for last year.  This year they are ahead, at least for now.

We went to Wal Mart and looked at a couple of park models in a different park.  I think Linda was ready to buy one but I don’t really want to be in another park.  We like it here.  Before going to Wal Mart we stopped at Taco Rico for lunch.

112_3449

Well, once was enough for Taco Rico.  Very expensive for a fast food restaurent! The food wasn’t all that great either.  There was another place we thought about going to called “Stripes”.  That is just a hamburger place but when we ate at one a few years ago it was pretty good and the price was also very good.

This afternoon Linda went to the ladies happy hour….

112_3452

They have a good time and Sparky (at the bottom) really wanted to stay with the crowd!

I fixed a steak on the grill with some potatoes and onions in foil, the steak wasn’t in the foil though.  Turned out pretty good except I used to much charcoal and it got really hot and burnt the bottom of the potatoes, still wasn’t real bad.  I will have to use less charcoal next time.

Not going to do much again tonight.  I did some reading, Clive Cussler, and Linda watched the Bachelor in the bedroom.  I couldn’t stay awake so I had to quit reading.  Time to go to bed…Night Y’all…

Sunday February 12th 2012

Well it is cool and rainy and not a real nice morning.  I even turned up the heat because I was getting cold!

I went to church at Mission FBC today. Church was good again and Sunday School was also very good.  Got a picture of Rosalie the Sunday School teacher…

112_3448

They serve breakfast here and she happened to be eating biscuits and gravy.  I also had some biscuits and gravy and some hash browns with a couple of pieces of pasty.  The lady does a good job with the breakfast.

After church when I came home I had to turn up the heat again.  I just can’t hardly handle the cool, wet and windy weather.  I did get warmed up though.

I stopped at a Mexican bakery and got some rolls.  I thought some of them really looked interesting.  One was a carrot cake I think.  Not real sweat but it was very good.  The others, whoa, some were really sweat!  Had a couple filled with cream cheese, I loved it but was to much for Linda.  Also bought a couple of cookies that we though, I thought, we had last year and really liked but they weren’t quite as good.

Had leftover beef and noodles for supper.  Not much else went on today except the sun came out this afternoon and make it up around seventy which was warm enough to sit outside for a little while!  Love it when it’s nice out!

Went to bed early, well, I think I fell asleep watching TV and I’m pretty tired so I’ll say “night y’all”…

Sunday, February 12, 2012

Saturday February 11th 2012

It is cloudy this morning but seems to be a little warmer.  Not much but a little bit.

Linda didn’t want to go to the line dancing class but I thought I would just to give it a try.  I liked it!  With two left feet I guess I did alright!  I was surprised that I got kind of warm, had to take my coat off and I still worked up a little sweat!  It was surprising because it isn’t fast or hard but it was kind of a workout using muscles that I haven’t used much lately!

Later on in the day as I was walking Sparky my legs hurt and so did the bottoms of my feet! I think I need a nap!  Maybe some muscle relaxer also!

When Linda got ready we figured we would ride around and check out other campgrounds.  Lots of campgrounds down here.  The first one we stopped at was “Rolling Hills” or something like that.  We drove around in it and there was a place for sale in there that looked pretty nice and the price wasn’t bad at all.  There wasn’t anyone in the office and we called the owner who was in Hot Springs AR so they couldn’t show us but he told us the place was in pretty good condition and it had a couple of things I require like a regular refrigerator and a shower that you can stand up in and turn around.  He said it had both so I guess next week we will go take a look to see what we think.

We stopped at Delia’s for some tamales…112_3447

I got the spicy pork and Linda got the bean, cheese and jalapeno.  I think mine was hotter than hers.  They were good but we have had enough now to last us quite awhile.

We went out with Dale and Velda to the DQ and I should have gotten a picture but I didn’t.

The sun had come out this morning for about three hours which was really nice.  It didn’t get real warm but was comfortable.  I think next Wednesday is supposed to be in the middle 80s so that will be nice.  The cool weather is really nice for sleeping though.

Not much else to report for today so I will say bye y’all…

Saturday, February 11, 2012

Friday February 10th 2012

Well I got up earlier this morning I think it was about 4:45AM.  I wanted to get things done.  I mixed the dough first for the rolls then took Sparky out for his walk.  I think that he thought this was way to early and I think he wanted to go back to bed.

At 7AM  I took most of the stuff over to the clubhouse and started the coffee. I started baking one pan of rolls before I left though and by the time I got back they were almost done so I took them out a little early and put the other pan in.  I frosted the first ones with some frosting I made but I don’t really like the taste of the frosting so I put it on very light.

While the second pan was baking I took the first one over to the club house. When I got back I didn’t have long to wait for it to get done.  I didn’t frost this one, thought I would leave them plain.

The first people started coming in just before 8AM.  Ended up have a really good crowd and the even stayed longer than usual.  Almost all the fruit was gone, the cinnamon rolls were almost gone and the rolls I bought were almost gone but not the donuts.  The donuts don’t go real well, most people like the filled jelly rolls, I do toSmile.

I got the cleanup done and took the left overs back to the camper except for the donuts, I left them in the refrigerator.

Bible study this morning.  Kermit led the study.  I think he does a good job. We were in the book of Matthew chapter ten and eleven.  We usually have a really good discussion, we did today.  Bernie made it to the bible study, he is a really nice guy and so is his wife Eleanor.  I think next week we will probably have a few more.  Only five of us today.

The rain has let up and late in the afternoon the sun peaked out for a little while.  Nice!  It got to around sixty today I think and it was pretty nice!

Taking it easy tonight.  I think tomorrow we will go take “line dancing” lessons.  Linda probably won’t because she still doesn’t feel well, but I thought I would give it a try and see if I can get this old body to do some of the moves…Night Y’all…

Thursday February 9th 2012

Another rainy cool day.  Still better than ice or snow.  It isn’t that cold out probably be in the upper fifties today maybe even sixty!

We aren’t going to do much today.  It is to rainy and cool to do very much and Linda still isn’t feeling very well.

This afternoon I went to Wal Mart to get things for tomorrow.  I am hosting the coffee klatch at the club house.  I bought a couple dozen donuts and some fruit. I figured frozen peaches, frozen strawberries and frozen mangos with a can of pineapple chunks would probably go over good.  I also bought Linda some chocolate covered strawberries.  I had one and they are pretty good except the chocolate is pretty hard but the strawberries were excellent!

I think tomorrow I will probably fix some cinnamon rolls for the coffee klatch. I didn’t the last time and I wouldn’t have done the hosting this time but someone took their name off so I figured I would do it again.  It is kind of fun.  Paul showed me how he makes coffee so now I know how to do that.

I stopped at Cabrito Market for a soup bone.  I got a piece of shank I think that weighed over a pound so I brought it home and put it in the crock pot frozen.  I added some onion and garlic pepper and I’m going to let it cook over night.  I actually got it for the bone for Sparky.  Mary has been giving him the bone from T-bone steaks.  He likes them but he eats to much of the bone and this one I’m sure he won’t be able to eat but will enjoy chewing on it.

Not much else going on today.  Our shows are on TV tonight.  I really like Person of Interest, think it is one of my favorites! We watched a couple more but I can’t remember what they were.  They were good though.

Well, time to say Night Y”all….

Wednesday February 8th 2012

It is a rainy day and pretty cool.  It started raining last night about 9PM and rained pretty steady all night.  Got quite a bit of rain which is really needed here.

I had a hard time getting Sparky out because of the rain but he finally came out and did his thing.  Didn’t take very long!

Not a lot going on today, it’s a good day to stay in and keep warm and dry.

They had a banana split night tonight, Linda isn’t feeling well so I went and then brought her one back.

Joe and Mary had the little thing and it is a test to see if it is going to be a little profitable or at least a break even thing.  Not many showed up, it is cool and rainy so that may have hampered the turnout a little.  I asked Joe later about it and he said they didn’t lose any money on it so they will probably try it again.  Hopefully it will be really warm when they try it.

We got to watch a little TV and then bed time.  What an exciting day!!  Night Y’all..

Tuesday February 7th 2012

Well, today is cool but not cold!  I ran the furnace a little this morning just to get the chill off and I thought about getting propane today but I think I will wait until Thursday, even though it’s supposed to rain for the next week. We don’t really need it yet.

Linda fixed baked beans for the “hamburger night” tonight.  She used the crock pot and put some salsa in it and it made it just a little tangy!  People seemed to like it, there wasn’t much left.

We had soup for lunch and a nap this afternoon, that goes together pretty good!

I had to take another  picture of some yellow flowers. They sure are pretty.

Seems funny to have flowers blooming in February but the citrus trees are full of blossoms!

The hamburgers tonight were really good, hand formed and grilled!   After the dinner there was a jam.  It was quite nice, took a couple of pictures…

Above is Sue and Bev doing a little dance…

The next picture is a lot of the women doing the “chicken dance”!  I thought it was kind of cute…

I think they had fun.

We stayed for the whole thing and when we left it was starting to rain.  Well, it wasn’t rain but it was wet.  More like a mist.  Took Sparky out for his walk and then watched a little TV.  The weatherman was right it started raining about 10PM… Texas needs a lot of rain…Night Y’all….

Monday February 6th 2012

Today is Linda’s birthday!!  I got her a card and yesterday bought her some games for her computer.

It is chilly this morning and is supposed to be chilly all day.

We decided to go to Peter Piper Pizza today.  I was going to take her somewhere to eat, not here but someplace kind of nice but she said this was OK.  The neighbor, Ken, has a birthday today also.  He came over and wished Linda a happy birthday.  At the pizza place they also sang “happy birthday to both of them.  I think Ken told them that it was their birthdays because Linda didn’t.  We had a good time and after that we went to Wal Mart for a few more things, always need a few more things.

After Wal Mart we came home, neither of us were feeling real good.  We took a short nap and Linda went over to the Happy Hour at the club house. Sparky and I stayed home.  She had a good time.  One of the couples Darrell and Cindy, are leaving today.  We didn’t really get together with them like last year when we went to the Basilica then out to eat.  They are a fun couple and they live up by Houston.  We may stop by there on the way home if we have time.

Not much going on tonight so a little TV again and to bed..Night Y’all…

Sunday February 5th 2012

Well, the storm never really hit yesterday but we did get quite a bit of rain last night.  Really needed here.

I went to church at Mission FBC and the church service was really good. Pastor Adrian preached on the Sermon on the Mount. The part he preached on was about the building of a house on sand or on a firm foundation.  Starting out you build your home in good weather not when the storm hits.  The ‘firm foundation” is Jesus and the point he was making was to be prepared before the storm hits.  Don’t build on what is in the world but on Jesus.  It was a good sermon and he is a good preacher…

Sunday School was also good.  Still don’t know what the teacher’s name is but she is really sharp.  She has some ideas and thoughts that are really interesting.  If I was teaching I would have to go out of the teacher’s manual.

We went to Wal Mart this afternoon.  I bought a small LED light for the bedroom.  I had seem it before and didn’t get it but decided that I would because I almost always go to bed before she does and she wants the light left on which is like a spot light it is so bright.  This one works really good.  I can sleep with it on and it doesn’t really bother me but it is bright enough for her to read by if she needs to.

We also made chili today.  I was hungry for chili and the temperature is only about 50 degrees which is pretty cool.  We had three pablano peppers left so I cut them up and used three cans of chili beans and a can of chili and a can of tomatoes.  I fried the hamburger and let Linda season it.  I put about a cup of that jalapeno wine it the burger.  I tasted the meat and it didn’t really taste any different. After she added the meat to the beans I put in about a cup of the wine in it also, now to see if it tastes any different.  We let it cook for a couple of hours then had a bowl.  Wow is it hot!  I don’t know if the wine did anything to it or not but it sure was good!

Super Bowl tonight.  Not looking forward to that.  I started watching MASH but she wanted me to watch with her.  I couldn’t find mash on this TV so we watch the Super Bowl.  I thought they would have lots of really good commercials but I didn’t really see any that were exceptional.

Got to use the light tonight!!!  Works great, uses three AAA batteries so we will see how long it lasts.  The light is good for 50,000 hours and I’m sure the batteries won’t last that long.  Time for bed though.. Night Y’all…

Saturday February 4th 2012

Dear Diary, oops, this is my blogSmile  Well, it is what I would call a diary if I had one.

If I remember right the day started very warm and humid.  I think it may have even rained a little last night but not sure.  There is supposed to be a cold front come through today and the temperature is supposed to drop pretty fast.

We didn’t do a lot today.  I wanted to go to Wal Mart to get s few things but decided to stay home since we were going to have a “storm”.  About 3PM the wind quit blowing for a couple of minutes and then changed direction and started coming out of the North.  I think the temperature dropped about five degrees in a matter of minutes and within an hour it was time to put on a jacket.  We got some mist that wasn’t really rain and I figured that would probably be about it.  Texas needs the rain.

We didn’t do much the rest of the day, we were waiting for the storm.  Linda went over to Marsha’s place next door for the “Women’s Happy Hour” and was over there until about 8:30PM.   She said she had a good time.

We just stayed in the rest of the night and watched some TV, other than that it was a quiet night.  Night Y’all….

Friday February 3rd 2012

The weather out is pretty nice.  It is cloudy but cool enough for a short sleeve shirt!  It is supposed to get around eighty four degrees this afternoon and getting ahead of myself it did.  Beautiful day for sure!

I went over for coffee and donuts this morning.  Had a pretty good visit with some of the residents.  The new one that I had met before, Darrell I think, and his wife are from Wisconsin.  They came in about a week ago.  Always have stories to tell and listen to.

At 9:30AM we had our bible study.  There were only five of us there today.  It was still good even though the “talkers” weren’t there today.

I sat outside with Sparky this afternoon and Jay came over and visited for about three hours.  Jay is Mary’s brother who is staying with them for awhile.

Linda went to the Women’s Happy Hour again.  She was late getting there but was also late getting home.  She always has a fun time with the women and usually says she isn’t going but changes her mind later.

Not much going on tonight.  Got one order of LED lights in the mail and I tried one but it doesn’t fit right.  It works great but can’t get the cover on the light.  I still have another order coming in sometime and hopefully I ordered the right kind.  I may look for some more of the flat ones to finish out the rest of the lights.  Need eight more.

Time to relax and watch some more TV….Night Y’all…

Thursday February 2nd 2012

Not planning on doing much today. It is warm out, it has been warm all night though.

We decided to go to Ropa with a bunch of people.  Ropa is a clothing place that is quite unique.  We went there last year and I put some pictures on the blog but we are going with a crowd today.  Jim is the only other male besides me going today.  I figured I would take a bunch of pictures. Linda wasn’t really in the mood to get up or go either one.  She ended up buying a bunch of stuff that she said she wasn’t going to buy. I did take a few more pictures though…

112_3432

112_3433

Doesn’t that look like fun????

Now my idea of fun is this…

112_3435

EATING, now that is fun.  You can tell Linda got a new hair do…  I think it looks good.

We finally got home and Linda had to show off her new clothes!!  She got to go to the Happy Hour again.  Said she had a really good time.  Lots of talk, talk, talk….  I was invited but I stayed home with Sparky.  I think he needed the company.

Linda fixed bacon and eggs for supper.  I tried to make some of those ranch beans like we get from Leo’s.  They were good but not like Leo’s beans.  Supper was good though.

TV tonight, couple of really good programs.  Not many on anymore.  Night Y’all….

Wednesday February 1st 2012

This is the first day of February!!  It is cloudy this morning but I figure it will clear off by this afternoon.

Linda decided to go get her hair done at Wal Mart.  I wanted to get a couple of things to even though I couldn’t find what I needed.  I sat in MacDonald’s for an hour playing a game on the phone.  Time went fast!

Linda’s hair looks nice!  I think I may have taken a picture I will check…

Guess I took it with the other camera so I can’t put it on here. I bought a table at Wal Mart that we need for outside.  When we got home Linda started sharing the jalapeno wine with the neighbors.  The women have a Happy Hour at 4PM and  they really have a good time.  I was there for awhile but had to go home to marinade some pork steaks.  I used the wine and olive oil to soak it in for a couple of hours.  We used a new grill, very small, to cook the steaks on.  We had baked potato and salad also.  Very good supper.

We didn’t do much of anything last night, hang around and watch TV.  Nice relaxing night….Night Y’all…

Tuesday January 31st 2012

The weather is really hanging on, little cloudy and cool in the morning but warms up to around eighty in the afternoon.

We aren’t going to do much today, stay home and relax.  Our neighbors Ken and Dee had some friends come in for a visit.  They are from Oklahoma and live close to them I guess.  They were really a nice couple. They call him Rico Man and his wife and I can’t remember her name.  They were both very nice though.  He gave Linda and I both a bottle of home made jalapeno wine.  I told him we weren’t drinkers, just wonder if he was just trying to get rid of it?  He said if you don’t drink it works really well for a marinade.   Guess that is what we will use it for.

112_3431

They were sure a happy couple.  Rico Man had a lot of stories, not sure if they were all true or not though.

Going to take it easy the rest of the day and go to bed later…Night Y’all..
