Tuesday June 29th 2010

Well, seems like today may be a little nicer, weather wise, than the last couple of weeks.  We are supposed to have some really decent weather for awhile.  I checked earlier with Maggie about the work load today and it is a little heavier than expected. The fact that Nick and Sherry are working with me will make things go a lot faster.  I have a picture of Nick, Sherry and BreAnne, it is a little blurry but I am going to put it on anyway.

100_0748

I knew I should have taken a few more to get a really good one.  I will have to take more!!  Nick was an automotive mechanic instructor.  Due to the economy or cut backs he lost his job and couldn’t find another one.  They decided to go full time   They are very good workers and BreAnne goes with them and is really very well behaved.  If she complains I don’t hear much of it.  We worked together almost all day, except for laundry. They did the Lodge laundry and I went to the main park to do laundry.  Worked out really good.  I told them to meet me at the main park at 3PM and we would do the house.  I had to have Roger come in and explain things like the towels, sheets etc.  Glad I did, I don’t like to guess at things like that. We finished the house about 4:30PM and they went back to the Lodge to finish laundry and I finished the laundry at the main park. Tomorrow I have no idea what is going to happen, we are all scheduled to work and Ron and Barbara I think are scheduled to work housekeeping also. We should only have a couple rooms to clean so I am wondering what else we will be doing.

Back to BreAnne, she was premature. She was born at six months, and weighed one pound eight ounces!!  Not only that, she had heart surgery when she was three days old.  Can’t hardly imagine doing heart surgery on a baby that only weighed a pound and a half, amazing.  She is a cute little thing, I have fun teasing her.

Linda and I went to Wal Mart to get a few things.  I need something to plug up the gap where the slide mechanism is.  Not sure if it will help but it sure won’t hurt.  The air conditioner just works like crazy when it gets really hot and with the size of our camper we should be freezing in here but it can’t keep up and I’m not sure if the sun is so hot and the insulation is so bad it can’t or if we are losing the air on the floor out the slide mechanism.  I asked Roger if he could use the front end loader to put a new air conditioner on top of the camper for me if (IF) I needed it.  He said he would be glad.  I worked with Charlie in the laundry and he asked me if I would help him put one on his camper, his is the same way only it is a lot bigger than our camper. Back to Wal Mart, we picked up the things we needed and a few things from the deli….

100_0749

She looks happy doesn’t she???  That is a jalapeno popper she is holding. They are filled with cream cheese and aren’t to bad but I think my stomach is starting to tell me that jalapenos don’t settle well, bummer!  I had chicken strips and breaded okra, Linda had chicken livers and BBQ or General chicken.  The little black box or bag behind the brown glass is a gift from the Thomas Brothers show.  There was also a card from the Paul Harris show.  I think they are free so we may check them out.

I sympathize with all you people that read all the way to the bottom of the blog, I mean who cares if my tummy doesn’t like jalapenos???  Thanks for reading though, but this is something I can look back on next year and say to myself “can’t believe we are so exciting!!!”.   Nite Y’all……

Monday June 28th 2010

The weather is supposed to change and get a little cooler.  It is nice this morning so maybe we will have a nice decent day.

Guess what??? No pictures today.  I’ve had my camera with me all day and didn’t get a picture.  I was going to take a picture of the rooms and I forgot.  I get busy and picture taking is the last thing I think about. I think mostly of what I have forgotten.  I wonder, is that an oxy-moron?

Tomorrow Sherry is supposed to work with me, not sure about Nick. Roger said he would be working on something else.  We should have a pretty easy day tomorrow, Bernie helped with the rooms and I think we only have 4 rooms left plus the house and not sure about the cabins but if they don’t get done today we will get them tomorrow or the next day or the next day…

Had a decent day at work today, Maggie is really funny and so is Bobby, they both talk a lot and it is hard to get a word in edge wise.  I was going to ask Barbara a question and Maggie was talking to her non stop so I started talking about her to Bobby so she could hear and every time she stopped talking to Barbara I would stop talking to Bobby. May not sound funny but I don’t think she could hear all that I was saying but it disturbed her because she knew I was talking about her.  Before she left she told me not to tell Barbara that she talked a lot…..OK….

Linda fixed burritos for supper and I had the corn that Johnny Mac brought over.  Had a good supper.  Oh, it was hot out today, maybe tomorrow will be cooler and we will be able to open up the camper and let it air out.  Nights are supposed to be in the 60s the rest of the week I think.

By 9PM I had a very hard time staying awake.  Sure will be glad when it is 10:15PM then I can go to bed.  Going to quit now…Nite Y’all…

Sunday June 27th 2010

PRAISE THE LORD!!!  It’s Sunday morning and I slept good last night. Linda wasn’t feeling to good this morning so I let her sleep in until I was ready to leave for work.  I did my morning stuff like reading and making coffee and the blog, then I went to www.hillvue.com to watch a sermon by Pastor Steve Ayers from Bowling Green KY.  I went to that church when we were working at Beech Bend Park.  Only got to watch about 15 minutes and the wifi quit working.

I knew today was going to be a big work day and I wasn’t disappointed. There were only 2 turn around rooms to do but there were another 17 check outs.  That wasn’t really to bad because there is no one else checking in for awhile so what doesn’t get done today will still be there tomorrow and the next day.  Tomorrow will be the same thing, leftovers and a few new check outs but no one coming in so far.

This is a picture of Ron and Barbara. They are from Tennessee and just started yesterday.

100_0734

Barbara is going to work in the office here in the Lodge.  We are in the office here in this picture.  I think Ron is going to work maintenance. I showed them a couple rooms yesterday just so they could see what they were like.  Ron worked with me for about 45 minutes just to see what I did.

100_0736

I was going to take more pictures of the room but this was the last one I did for the day.  This was before I started cleaning and I didn’t take one after so tomorrow I will take a couple more pictures just so I can remember what they look like, before and after. This was a room with a king bed and a sleeper sofa, just like a motel room.

Johnny Mac was going to bring a bag of corn over for us.  Hasn’t been able to find us home.  He made about 50 ears of corn for the “mandatory” pot luck the other night, good corn, peaches and cream (?).  I think that’s what he called it.  Very good.

I went to church at Friendly Baptist again tonight, the air conditioning was working.  Had a pretty decent crowd. The Assistant Pastor, Bill, preached out of Ephesians tonight and he loves Paul.

The rain came while I was at church and I had the awning up on the camper just in case it got windy, good thing I did, Linda said the wind rocked the camper pretty good.  This will be another nice lazy night. I had gotten a marking pen from Brenna, our youngest daughter, and I finally got it out and marked some of our things like the cell phones, and computers. Works really good. Can’t see it unless you have a special light to shine on it, It may just be an LED light, I’m not sure.  Well, I have about had it, I got to watch the weather forecast on the 10PM news, going to cool off and be great for awhile.  I can handle the 85 degree weather and it is supposed to be less humid also.  That’s all for now….Nite Y’all Ya’ll  hmmm… my spell checker says both of them are right, my spell checker must be Southern!!

Saturday June 26th 2010

I have come to the conclusion that I should write my blog before I go to bed! It may be good to think about what I did the day before but it is getting harder to remember, or separate, things from the days before!  I’ll try to get the right things in here but it probably wouldn’t matter to anyone but me anyway:-)

100_0726

This is our satellite dish, picnic table and BBQ grill, can’t see the grill?  It’s behind the electrical post almost right next to the neighbors camper. I was going to grill out tonight but it is rather close to the neighbors camper and I really don’t want to take a chance.  Got another angle….

100_0728

This campground wasn’t made for campers with slide outs and awnings!

100_0729

This is Billy Gail’s Cafe where we had breakfast yesterday.  Doesn’t look like much but the food was excellent.

Had two new couples start work today.  Nick and Sherry and their daughter BreAnn  worked with me, Ron worked with Roger I think and Barbara started in the Lodge Office.  I will get a picture of them later, I was going to today and I forgot, I even had the camera with me and told them I wanted to get a picture.  They worked with me all day and I taught them all I knew in about 3 or 4 minutes.  We had a good day, they are willing workers and seem to be fast learners, I think they are ready to venture out on their own.  Their daughter, BreAnn, probably not how it is spelled, is 10 years old and they home school her.  I thought she did good for following us around all day.  That had to be really boring for her but she was quite good.

At the end of our shift I rode with Roger to park a camper in a really tight spot.  It was interesting and Roger did an excellent job directing him.  Glad I didn’t have to do it, the spot was really tight.

Back to the BBQ grill, I didn’t cook out tonight, Linda fried the pork patties on the stove.  They turned out very good. We had some mustard potato salad from Wal Mart that was not the best and Linda’s Tropical Cole Slaw to go with the burgers.  Great supper!

Before going to bed we watched a little TV, I had a really hard time staying awake. I had been awake since 2AM.  Couldn’t sleep but felt good all day.  Think that is about all for today….Get some sleep…Nite Ya’ll…

Friday June 25th 2010

This is our last day off so I guess we better enjoy it!!!  Going to be another, you guessed it, hot and muggy type of day. We aren’t going to do much today, I know we forgot things at the store so we will probably go back to the store for a few things. On the way back we decided to try the restaurant across the street, it is called Billy Gail’s I think, any way the food was excellent…

100_0721  Linda got biscuits and gravy with eggs and I had something else, not sure what but had lots of hash brown potatoes  and other things.  Just noticed Linda, looks like she got a sour lemon or something:-)

100_0723

That is the Lodge so the restaurant is right across the street.

I had to take a nap this afternoon, not sure if it was the food or just the heat and being lazy.  Linda was working furiously getting a couple games downloaded on her computer and when I got up I talked her into giving me a haircut.  I really needed one and it is a little warm outside for long hair.

100_0725

Self portrait of course.  I like my short haircut, going to be a lot cooler for sure.

I was going to cook out again tonight but we were so full from lunch we decided to grill our burgers tomorrow if I can do it.  I will take a picture of the grill and the close proximity of the neighbors motor home.  Not sure I want to take the chance of a fire so close to his coach.

Our air conditioner is really working hard, the temp is around 90 but the sun shining on our camper really makes it hard for the air conditioner to keep up.  It is warm in here and for such a small space it doesn’t do a good job.  When the sun goes down it works very good, in fact, I had to turn it down (or up) because I was getting cold and it was 77 degrees in here.  I think maybe I’m getting old or my blood is really thinning out.

Well, not much more to talk about today, we like to watch the channel where they show people buying houses or selling them.  It is kind of interesting to see what people choose and the PRICES they pay for some of them, especially in New York City.  Some places sell for a lot more than I will make in my lifetime…. Don’t think I would like living in New York City anyway. Guess I will call it a day and get ready for bed…Nite Ya’ll..

Thursday June 24th 2010

I am really surprised!!  It isn’t quite so warm and humid this morning.  There is a nice gentle breeze blowing and it is pretty decent!!  I am going to make some bread it is so nice!!

100_0708

This is the only picture I took of the bread.  I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it had risen over the top of the bowl.  I made enough for cinnamon rolls and 2 loaves of bread.  Want to get this done early because this nice cool morning is turning hot already and it is only about 7AM!  I learned something this morning after all these years of making bread and rolls…how to cut warm dough and make it look decent!  When I cut the dough to make rolls I have been using a scraper and it kind of smashes the dough, I don’t have the scraper with us today so I thought I would try using the serrated bread knife.  Cuts through the dough like warm butter. It doesn’t smash the dough down and the rolls look decent for the first time.  The convection oven worked perfect. I need to figure out exactly how long to bake it though because it bakes differently than a regular oven.  I gave most of the rolls away to our work camper friends. We had a couple left and they weren’t to bad!  They weren’t real sweet but the bread part was good.

We went to Wal Mart to pick up a few items (not $100 today!!) for a dish that Linda was making for me to take to the “mandatory” pot luck that she isn’t welcome at, well, I think she would be welcome but the owner kind of sounded like she wasn’t welcome, that was our interpretation of the talk we had today.

We walked over to the Lodge Office to talk to Ginny.  She works the afternoon and evening shift there.  She is a character! Let me see if I can find their picture again…

100_0539

Yep, here they are Johnny Mac and Ginny.  She was a school teacher and not sure what Johnny Mac did but he is quite an all around guy, does most everything.  Very nice people.  Most work campers are very nice people. After thinking back over the last 11 years (wow 11 years) we have been traveling around and all the people we have met, kind of neat. Hard to believe I have been retired for 11 years, time really flies!  Oh, back to Ginny, she was telling us that next year they are just going to travel around and have fun, no working just traveling.  They are going to Italy later this year for a vacation.  Sounds good.  Maybe some day Linda and I can go to Germany, I would like that, not sure about her though.

I went to the “mandatory” pot luck by myself and it wasn’t bad, wish Linda could have been there though. It went OK, Heidi made me make a plate to take back to Linda.  I think Linda enjoyed that, especially since Heidi made me do it.  I don’t think that there was a lot of enthusiasm at the dinner, at least not like the one last month. Maybe it was me but no one really seemed happy or into it. Of course this was my day off and that kind of ruined our 2 days off. That is OK we will be done in August if not before.

Well, tonight is about over and I think that we will take it easy, we both have this nagging cough and ticklish throat that won’t go away, we feel good just can’t get rid of the cough.  Going to go to bed and see if tomorrow will bring snow???  Nite Ya’ll…….

Wednesday June 23rd 2010

Here is another one, hot and muggy, supposed to be the hottest day of the year!  Close to 100 with the heat index in the triple digits.  The air conditioner is really working. Runs off and on all night and I think this morning it is already in the middle 70s and the sun has just come up.

100_0681

As I was walking around this morning I decided to take a picture of some of the flowers that hide the dumpster.  The flowers are really pretty and they are growing great. Karen is doing a fine job with the flowers.

I have a pretty easy day today and Bobby is doing a lot of my work. He did a cabin before I even got to work and then after that he started doing rooms for me.  Wonder what I will do when I get finished??? When I finished I still had a couple hours to kill so I did laundry and cleaned windows and restocked the linen closets. Finished up at quitting time, it’s 5 O’clock somewhere…. I talked to Heidi at the Lodge office and I asked her about the “mandatory” potluck tomorrow night.  My question was, could, or should, Linda come to it with me??  If it was up to her, yes, but… there may be some other(s) that wouldn’t appreciate her being there.  Uh Oh.. More troubles.  Why can’t things go smoothly??

We made reservations to go to the Toni Roi show tonight and Linda wasn’t in a real good mood but it will be nice to get out and do something. We stopped at IHOP for a quick bite to eat, usually IHOP isn’t my favorite place but this is our second time there and both times the food was excellent.  Not sure what we had, eggs, potatoes, and lots of stuff on top of it, and pancakes.  Great meal…

The show was a VIP show, not sure what that means, but we got name tags, free pop corn and free pop and some tickets for a drawing.  We never win anything but the price was right (free)…I can handle that.

100_0705

Don’t she look happy? We had two tickets and won something with each one!! Got some free candy and a $20 gift certificate from Applebees, couldn’t hardly believe the candy (taffy) and a $10 gift certificate from a candy store.  Like I said the price was right.

I will put a picture or two of the show in here. Most didn’t turn out very well, I don’t like to use the flash in a place like that. I think the flash is only good for a few feet anyway, not 30 or 40 feet.

100_0683

100_0695

100_0704

 100_0686

Tony Roi has a beautiful voice and did a good job singing the Elvis songs and he does have a different style than Elvis, and the songs, or his act, is in recognition of Elvis and if any of you see his act, make sure you stay for the second half, it is better than the first.  The first part is a mixture of his songs and Elvis’s, well, so is the last part but it is still better. Had a decent night, got home about 10:30PM and was kind of tired so will go to bed kind of early….Nite Ya’ll….

Tuesday June 22nd 2010

I’m so excited today I can’t hardly stand it!!!!!  It’s going to be another HOT and MUGGY day!!!  Love it!!  I’m not looking forward to winter.  I would rather have this than cool humid or cold weather.  Guess dry cold wouldn’t be to bad.

100_0679

This is Gene and Diana. I took my camera into work today and fortunately got a picture of them.  Gene has physical problems and he told Roger yesterday that he couldn’t handle the heat and work. Maybe he told them this morning, I think he did.  Glad I took my camera though, they were gone after lunch, hooked up their camper and were out of here.

I worked by myself today, Gene did laundry which helped and the laundry room has an air conditioner that keeps it, well, cooler than outside. I had a slightly easy day and Roger did the 5 arrivals so I didn’t have to travel both parks to do them.  I turned in Linda’s shirts this morning and figured I would talk to Roger or Heidi to see if I was still supposed to work. HMMMM, I saw Roger but didn’t get to talk to him.  At lunch Linda asked what was going on and I said I didn’t know yet and I would definitely talk to one of them before the day was over.  I finished early today so I called Roger over and asked him about my status, and to get ahead of the story, I told Linda when I got home that they “fired” me.  Wrong thing to say. She was ecstatic. Then I gave her the bad news, Roger said I had a job as long as I was happy working here, that did not make her day, she wanted to go home but by bed time she had accepted the fact we were stuck here for another two and a half months.  I’m getting used to the job and the heat doesn’t bother me so I am going to try to stick it out to the end.

I made reservations after work for the Tony Roi show.  Tony Roi is an Elvis impersonator and I hear he is very good.  We will try to take in a few more shows during our next two months.

We had a little jalapeno bread left so we made toasted cheese sandwiches with it.  I think I am losing my taste for the jalapeno bread for some reason. I need to make some more regular bread, maybe some cinnamon rolls or something.

We watched a little TV and I even stayed up until the weather at 10PM!!  I amaze myself sometimes.  Nite Ya’ll…

Monday, June 21, 2010

Monday June 21st 2010

It’s going to be another hot and muggy day!!  They have heat warnings out through Wednesday.  I don’t mind the heat, nice if it was 72 degrees but I would much rather have it hot than cold.  Once I get cold I can’t hardly get warmed up again.

Well, another day at the Lodge.  I worked alone today and really there wasn’t a lot to do. I finished up the Lodge before lunch and then after lunch I had 2 cabins to clean.  Not bad.  I was done kind of early so I took stuff up to the closets on the 3rd and 2nd floor.  Not much but will help some tomorrow I hope.  I will be alone tomorrow, Wilbur and Bernie are off Tuesday and Wednesday.  I think they may have hired some more workers, but won’t know until later, they don’t confide in me for some reason!

Had laundry to do after my shower.  That took awhile and Linda made BLTs for supper without the L.  Really enjoyed them.

I had to take a couple of pictures.

100_0676

These are the showers. They are so narrow you can’t hardly get in and once in there isn’t hardly enough room in there to take a shower, it is really narrow.

100_0677

Not only are the showers narrow  the sites are really narrow. I had to move the dish, you can see it under the awning, because it was to close to the other camper. I worry when someone pulls in beside us especially if the awning is out.

So much for our exciting day, my back hurts and I think I may take it easy and watch some TV before going to bed.   Nite Ya’ll….

Sunday June 20th 2010

Father’s Day and it is going to be another hot and muggy day. I did my reading etc then walked over the the Main Campground to sign up for the “mandatory” pot luck Thursday, our day off. The potlucks are fine, mandatory, but fine. They just happen to fall on our day off.  We decided to go home last week because we knew we couldn’t this week.

There was a pancake breakfast this morning so I woke Linda up a half hour early to go over. Linda didn’t want to go over, she didn’t want to get up, she didn’t want to go into work. Not a surprise, I had tried to keep her interested since we only have about 75 days left.  I went back to the main park and talked to Robert, the owner and told him that she didn’t like the job and she was quitting.  I told him I would work until the end of August, but this is a 2 person job so I’m not sure if I will be working the rest of the week or not. I will probably find out tomorrow when Roger and Heidi are back from their day off.

I had a busy day at work, we had 12 check outs and 5 of them were turnarounds.  The turnarounds have to be done first. I finished 5 of the turnarounds before I went to lunch and the other turnaround was actually a walk in in the afternoon which I finished before time to go home. I think I actually finished 7 altogether with a few other rooms that weren’t checkouts.  Thought I did pretty good, takes almost an hour to do a room correctly.  Oh, Robert told me they were already shorthanded. I can’t remember working so hard on a job and getting so little.  Not the greatest job in the world. The other cleaning couple, Wilbur and Bernie, told me last night Bernie and fallen and hit her head plus banged herself up pretty good and when Robert came by Wilbur told him what had happened and he said they need to be a little more careful!!  Compassionate person isn’t he???

Went to Friendly Baptist last night, they had no electricity, so no lights or air conditioning.  The building was cool until about half way through the service and by the end it was pretty warm. The song leader, Bob, was back and he led the singing.  He likes the real old time songs and likes to sing them fast.  The sermon, or bible study, was good but was getting dark and I have a hard time seeing anyway.  I need the “Light”!!! He was preaching out of Genesis about Abraham being called and answering, “Here I Am” or in my bible it says “Here Am I”. Thinking about it, we usually answer “what”?  After working all day and sitting in a warm room, I tend to start drifting, mainly to sleep, fortunately I didn’t fall off the chair!!  I didn’t really go to sleep but my eyes sure got heavy for awhile.

No pictures today…100_0648

Well, maybe one, this is back in Sikeston in the back yard, have some bushes that really have beautiful flowers on them.  We have some Hollyhock too.

100_0647

Here is another, this is the hollyhock in the back yard next to the flowering bush, and some other tree that is growing which I didn’t get cut out. To much to do and to little time.  I may have one more picture….Oh, I think the field in the above picture is cotton, I will keep an eye on it when we get home and take some more pictures of it, beautiful when it is in full bloom.

100_0650

This is for you LaVon, the tree is only half dead but… I had a picture of the Mimosa tree the other day but thought I would put this one in also.

Time to take it easy tonight and rest up.  I am sure tomorrow will be another hard day. Nite Ya’ll…

Saturday June 19th 2010

Back to work today, but I have some pictures I want to add to yesterday…

100_0644 Our pecan tree is getting some pecans on it!!  Had a bad winter last winter and the winter before it lost some big branches.  Last year it didn’t have any nuts on it at all.  We don’t use them but it is nice to have it anyway, the squirrels like them.

100_0643

The little one in the center is the pecan tree, it is kind of misshapen but ice tends to do bad things to trees.

100_0649

Some of our prettier flowers at home and the big tree in the background with the sucker branches that I didn’t get cut off.  I think those big trees are going to have to go.  They are big but not good for much, may plant a fruit tree or two or maybe more pecan trees.  They don’t get the sucker branches like the big ones do.

100_0667

Back to Branson!  Linda got me a retractable key chain for my belt for Father’s Day.  Don’t know how she ever thought of that.  Maybe I suggested it?  I used it today and it works like a charm, if I could remember I have it on.  It is hard to see but it is on my belt and I have the keys in my hand.

100_0669

Here is another moth.  I would imagine that is is probably some sort of crusader moth.  I have seen more moths that are really unique here than anywhere I’ve even been, flowers to that are strange.

100_0671

This is a pan of sweetened baking powder biscuits for what else???

100_0675

Our version of strawberry short cake.  It wasn’t to bad, we didn’t throw any away!!  We have enough left for another day, oh yeah….

Well, I have put pictures in now from yesterday and today and probably the day before.  Tomorrow being Father’s Day they are serving free pancakes to the fathers.  We will go over and indulge, then check out the shows that are coming up…free….I think…..may take one or two in, we will see.

Going to go to bed tonight probably a little early.  Work is always tiring and we had another couple helping us today.  We are still tired.  Nite Ya’ll

Friday June 18th 2010

I didn’t sleep well but Linda is still sleeping, hopefully this will help her get over whatever she has, cold, flu or whatever!!

Let me see, I couldn’t add pictures yesterday and today I have about 90 so I will have to pick and chose and then add more tomorrow.

100_0618

This is Bobby and Maggie, she works in the office and Bobby does the maintenance thing, can’t tell maybe he is smiling, I don’t think he likes having his picture taken, I think she smiles all the time.

100_0638

This is Roger and Heidi our managers, nice “kids” to work for, they do their jobs well.  Don’t see them together very often and took this opportunity to snap a picture of them.

100_0641

“Star Trek” Trike!! They still have this going on. Now, today is Saturday and I think this is the last day, will see what happens, This blog is for Friday though.  I will be mixed up for awhile until I get back on schedule and pictures posted.

100_0654

OK, this is back home in Sikeston. The beautiful green field across the road is now black.  They harvested the wheat and burnt the stubble.  Now LaVon you might like the tree on the left. It is our Mimosa Tree and it is half dead, not a good picture of it but most of the branches are dead but a few still have leaves and flowers, probably will come down this Fall, or at least part of it.

100_0662  This is Chloe, or neighbors 10 week old Rat Terrier. Vicious isn’t she??? I haven’t heard her bark yet.

100_0664

BIG Dawg!!

We had a lot of things to do at home and got some of them done but didn’t have near enough time to get all done.  Linda slept a lot which when she finally did get up she felt a lot better, not a good 2 days off for her. We had a pretty nice drive back to Branson, long, but nice.

These are our “pork patties”.  We have found that the ground pork actually tastes better than hamburger! These are quarter pounders and they don’t shrink much at all. I’m not real good at charcoal grilling but they did get done and tasted great!   We went to Wal Mart and Linda got me a retractable key chain for work.  I have a terrible time getting keys out of my pocket to open the doors and I think this will work just hunky dory!!  Wonder where “hunky dory” came from, hear it a lot but I don’t know where the word originated.  I’m sure someone will tell me….  We are tired and will have to go back to work tomorrow so I am going to try to get this posted and then get some sleep…Nite Ya’ll

Thursday June 17th 2010

Well, I guess I made a mistake on the dates on yesterday’s blog, can’t believe I would do something like that, more than once!!  I was really tired last night and Linda is getting sicker!!  I went to the store last night and she took some Nyquil and that knocked her out.  She slept all night and I got up this morning did all stuff then walked over to the main park and took pictures talked to people etc.  When I got back Linda was still asleep. She finally woke up about 10AM.  She looked better and she decided she could try to go home today.   Not sure that was a good thing, she slept most of the way.  When we got home she went to bed and it is now 8PM and she is still sleeping.  Hopefully the sleep will help.

I got the lawn mowed, got gas, trimmed some suckers from the trees and did a little weed eating.  I am listening to 50s and 60s music that Neil gave me.  Neal is a school friend that I hadn’t seen for probably 40 years and he happened to do the lawn mowing for my sister in Rockford.  I haven’t gotten a picture of him but will do so the next time we are in Rockford.  I think he made 20 CDs and it takes an hour for each one…lots of music.

I took lots of pictures and guess what?  I didn’t bring my cable to put them on the computer. I  have 2 of them and they are both in the camper I think. Now what am I going to do, this will make 3 days or so without pictures, what a bummer!.

Well, I will post this in the morning probably and then put pictures on tomorrows blog.  Ya’ll have a good night ya hear?

Tuesday & Wednesday 6-15 & 6-16 2010

I almost forgot to do the blog for yesterday!!  Really wouldn’t have missed much.  It was pretty much an ordinary day.  We had to work and we kept busy the whole day.  Today, Wednesday, was another day that was ordinary.  Work went pretty well both days.  I am coming to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter where you work, whether a multi million dollar outfit or a small outfit, you never have the tools or supplies you need. Today I made about 5 or 6 trips down to the first floor for mattress pads, they have lots of mattress pads, unfortunately I tried 4 or 5 before I found 2 that fit.  Now I have to give credit to Roger and Heidi, they will bend over backwards to help get you what you need.  Some of the mattress pads we will have to try on different beds to see which ones they fit, then, we will mark them for the size bed they fit.

Last night I wanted to fix potato soup. It is hot and humid but I had some potatoes that needed to be used so I did it. I didn’t take a picture of it, it really didn’t look very good but tasted quite good!  Linda liked it but she started getting sick before we got off work yesterday, think it is like the flu but I’m not sure, hope it wasn’t the soup.  When we got off work tonight I ran (in the car) to Wal Mart for some Nyquil and some other stuff for her.

I went to church tonight at Friendly Baptist again. Had a good Bible Study on the last chapter of Philippians. The song leader, Bob, was gone tonight and the poor guy that took his place had a hard time, great voice, but couldn’t read music.

When I got back from church Linda was in bed sleeping.  Hopefully she can sleep this off.  The work is really hard, well, it really keeps us moving. I have been sore from all the running up and down stairs.  I hope I am losing some weight!!  I am going to take it easy tonight. We may go back to Sikeston tomorrow if Linda feels OK.  We will sleep on it..Nite Ya’ll….

Monday June 14th 2010

This morning when I got up I figured it was just another hot and humid morning but when I finally opened the door I found out that it was actually a beautiful mild day!!  SURPRISE!!  I opened up the camper and let the air flow through, and it was kind of breezy.  I decided to leave the air conditioner off and when we came back at noon it was quite hot in the camper.  I didn’t leave any windows open and it was warm by noon.  I put the awning out to keep the sunny side shaded and left the air run when we went back to work.

We had a pretty decent day, for work, there was less to do than yesterday. We stopped for lunch so we had to work until 5PM.  When I stop for lunch I sure don’t want to go back to work again.  Would be a lot nicer to work right straight through and quit an hour early.  The work and the heat makes or takes away our appetite so working straight through is no problem in that respect..

Got the laundry done tonight, decided to go back to Sikeston Thursday to pick up mail, mow the lawn and check see if everything is OK.  I called Jim and let him know he didn’t have to  mow the lawn this week which may be nice, he has to go to the Dr tomorrow for scheduling surgery. He has been having a lot of problems with his prostrate and the VA, well, in my opinion, doesn’t want to do much for him.

I have no pictures today, I could probably put in some more 3 wheelers but I don’t think I will. We had leftovers for supper, still good, one of my favorites, then relaxed the rest of the night.  Nite Ya’ll…

Sunday June 13th 2010

Well, this is getting boring, it’s going to be another sunny, hot and humid day.  Why can’t we get a dash of snow???  Not really, I don’t mind the heat.  I don’t mind the snow either, if it is warm!! Last winter I was wishing for some of this.  I kind of like it.

We went into work today, Linda didn’t really want to but I said it would be better than yesterday and I was right, it was better, not much, but better. We had lots of rooms to clean and Linda said we can’t get all of these done and I told her I had no plan on getting them all done. There are other people coming into work and what we can’t get I’m sure they will.  We worked through lunch again today and by the time we quit for the day we had the top two floors finished.  That surprised me!!  I didn’t think we would get that much done.  We kept busy all day and we really got tired.  We were glad when 4PM rolled around. I needed a shower and Linda needed a nap.

I got ready and went to church at Friendly Baptist and the music was great.

I had to walk over to the main part to take pictures.  I will try to make a collage of pictures, never tried that before.

I tried to put a collage in with 12 pictures in it and I couldn’t get it to publish, so I put in a few singles.  I still don’t know if this will publish but I am going to try again.

Linda is watching the Tony Awards and I would just as soon write in our blog and try something different.  If anyone can’t get all the pictures and would like to see them I would be glad to either email or post more!!  Love it!!

Time to say good night.  I will try to post this tonight and see if it will work.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained….Nite Ya’ll….

Trying to put some more pics on here…

These pictures are really not good since I emailed them to myself. They are cut from 3 megapixels down to about 55 kb or what ever they call it. I haven’t tried enlarging them so not sure what they look like.  Getting close to time to go to work……  Morning Ya’ll…
