Saturday April 7th 2012

Got the day off!!  Think I may take it easy todaySmile….I do have a couple of things that I have to get done.  I have a couple of pine trees, actually cedar trees that are giving me fits when I mow under them.  I need to do a little trimming.  Also have a dead bush next to the cedar trees that I need to get out and put on the burn pile.

I cleaned off the neighbors carport.  He doesn’t live there anymore and he said it was all junk so I have almost all of it off now so I started a little fire around one of the stumps and burnt some things. Well, I have a few things in my garage that need to be cleaned out.  I have a bunch of real short boards that I was saving for something, not sure what for though, so all of those went on the burn pile.  Had a pretty good fire going for awhile and the stumps are gradually shrinking.

Linda and I went to town to look around.  I needed to get a whirly gig vent for the roof, ours blew off during a bad storm.  The neighbor, Larry, picked it up and then went on the roof and covered the vent quite well.

The one on the left is the new whirly gig.  If all the jobs went like this one I would work myself out of things to do.  I bet it didn’t take fifteen minutes once I got everything up there.  It seems to whirl like a new one!

After I got the little things done we, I, decided to put up our new tent just to see if we could do it before we actually need it!  It took awhile to get it up. I made a lot of mistakes and had to go back over some of the steps to get it right.  When we got the tent up there seemed to be a piece missing!   A big piece!  I was ready to call the number for broken and missing pieces but before  I do I am going to check under the tent.  Glad I did, that’s where the top was!  We didn’t see it when we were unfolding it.

Linda is actually standing up!  The blue top piece is what we couldn’t find. When it is rolled up it is pretty small.

It didn’t take long at all to get the tent down but it did take awhile to get it folded small enough to get it back into the bag it came in.  Had to refold a couple of times.

Now I’m ready to take a break.  It is late in the afternoon and I’ve been doing quite a bit all day long.  Time to take it easy.

We just had soup and sandwiches for supper but it really hit the spot.  We did buy some tortillas, ice cream and caramel for one of these nights.  When we were in Texas, Bob and Pete made fried tortillas covered with cinnamon sugar, then a dip of ice cream and caramel sauce.  Now that was a treat and we are going to attempt to duplicate it (without the calories though). Now that is funny.

Time to say Night Y’all….

Friday April 6th 2012

It got cold last night.  I think it is about 42 degrees  this morning!

I bundled up good for work.  Not sure how warm it is supposed to get but I really don’t want to get cold!  I put on my work T shirt then an insulated shirt, then a light sweater with a hood and then an insulated shirt with a hood!  I think I’m prepared to mow this morning!

Glad I wore all the clothes.  The wind is really blowing. The longer I mowed the warmer it got and about 10:30 I had to start taking off shirts. Bye the time I stopped for lunch I had to take all but the T shirt and light hooded sweater off.  By quitting time I was warm but wasn’t going to take my hooded sweat shirt off!  Actually work went quite well.  I’m tired!  Out of the last eight days I’ve worked seven, time for a break.

I had to take a picture of my snuggle footies that Bren gave me for Christmas.  It isn’t winter but it sure is cool and they are nice and warm..

Actually Linda took the picture!

Really to tired to do much of anything tonight.  Linda made a nice pot of chili that really hit the spot.  It isn’t bad out but it is still cool and I like chili!

Will watch some TV and then, you guessed it…Night Y’all….

Thursday April 5th 2012

The day doesn’t look to bad!  I thought it was supposed to rain but sure doesn’t look like it is going to!

I didn’t take any pictures today!  My bad!

Went on into work, wore my sweater because it was a little chilly.  Mark wanted me to mow Russell Street this morning, he doesn’t need his truck so that sounded like a plan to me.

Russell Street wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be.  The grass wasn’t nearly as tall as at the park last week!

Trash.  This is kind of a trashy side of town. Old, really old, mobile homes. People just don’t care here or something like that. I picked up a lot of trash from gum wrappers to a recliner.  I had a pretty good load by the time I was finished.   Our dumpsters are full so the chair is sitting on the ground until they are emptied.  They really fill up fast.

Back at the park I picked up limbs that I had piled up around the mobile home park then finished the mowing and started the RV Park again.  I will finish the RV Park tomorrow if it doesn’t rain. Oh, I forgot, the sun came out and I took my sweater off before heading to Russell Street.  Big mistake.  It got cloudy and windy and very chilly and I just had on my T-shirt.  I about froze.  Oh well, I mowed until 5PM and then it started raining so I had to quit.  I have enough for tomorrow to keep me busy most of the day.

It didn’t rain here at home. Well, it sprinkled a little but that is about it.

Linda was sleeping when I got home all covered up on the sofa and the windows were open and it was really chilly in here!!  I decided it was time to bake some bread, maybe heat it up a little in here.

The bread turned out pretty good, Linda says they taste like Lambert’s rolls and I think it tastes like soda crackers, wonder if something is going wrong with my taster???

Well, got to watch some more TV tonight but we are both ready for a good night’s sleep…Night Y’all….

Wednesday April 4th 2012

Beautiful out this morning!  The temperature is just about right, some where around 68 degrees I would imagine.  It is supposed to rain today so if it does I probably won’t go into work.  Doesn’t look like rain, don’t see any clouds at all!

I am feeling a lot better this morning.  I must have strained myself yesterday.  Really hard to walk and my knee was starting to give me fits also. My knee still hurts this morning but not to bad.

When I got to work I told Mark I was feeling a lot better so I would go ahead and work.  I figure if I mow I will be OK.  I started out spraying Round Up.  I sprayed for about two hours and I figured I would mow the rest of the day.  I’m starting to get tired and for some reason I’ve been hungry all day and just couldn’t get enough to eat.  I was even hungry when I got home!

Work went quite well today.  I’m still feeling good except for being tired!  Linda fixed Sloppy Joe’s for supper and they were really tasty.  Still hungry! I found some candy and Linda found some candy bars.  By bed time I was feeling pretty good.

I got a picture of Sparky and Scruffy…

112_3618

I also took a picture of the field in our back yard.  I figure he planted sometime in March and I noticed the corn coming up about the 2ne of April.

112_3621

I also took a picture of a mosquito…

112_3611

Well, I don’t think it is a mosquito but it sure looks like one only about ten times as big!

Well, that is about it for today, I’m tired and ready to go to bed.  Night Y’all…

Tuesday April 3rd 2012

Looks like another nice day.  We had the house open all night and it is comfortable in here this morning.

Before I go any farther I took a picture of myself in my cutoff blue jeans…

112_3616

Coffee time and the sun is just coming up.  Now I did the surgery on the shorts and if you look close one leg is longer than the other, and I thought I did a really good jobSmile

Work went kind of well today.  The golf cart had a flat tire, I tried to fix it and about three hours later it went flat again.  Had to walk back to the shop and get the air compressor, which is a small one, and walk back to the golf cart.  I tried to fix it again and it lasted a couple of hours but started going flat again.  Maybe I’ll get it fixed tomorrow.

I have to take another picture of the Kubota. You may notice that what looks like racing decals on the hood is actually duct tape…

112_3613

I just finished sharpening the blades that is why it is up on the blocks. We mow about five acres a week with this little 44 inch mower and it still runs great!

Linda fixed a good supper tonight, chicken, potatoes, beets, string beans and apple sauce.  Really good…

112_3615

Not sure what happened today but I’m sore, it really hurts to walk so I’m taking a couple of Aleve to see if that helps.

Watched some TV tonight but I don’t feel real good so shower time and time for bed….Night Y’all…

Monday April 2nd 2012

Well, today is Kedric and Jared”s birthday.  I think they are now thirteen years old!  I don’t have a recent picture of them or I would include it in here.  I will have to call them later today and wish them a happy birthday. I’m sure they would still be in bed yet!

Nice day out today, I will get the air conditioner ready to go, it is supposed to get up around ninety today so we may need it.  I put a new filter in it so it should be ready to go.

At work I’m trying to get caught up with the mowing and spraying Roundup. The grass is so tall I will have to mow it a couple of time to make it look decent.  It looks better but not “good”.

I stopped on the way home and got gas for the car, mower and chain saws. I will have to mow shortly because the grass is growing so fast.

I have a picture of the Iris I picked for Linda and I’m surprised it is looking so good and the buds are even blooming!

112_3609

I also took a picture of our Azalea bush which was almost dead but is back and looking pretty good!

112_3610

I am tired and kind of sore tonight, time for a shower and time to relax!  I watched some TV and fell asleep during some of it but that is OK, I don’t think I missed much.

Time to say night y’all….

Sunday April 1st 2012

Sunday morning and it is beautiful out.  Got a picture of the sunrise…

112_3604

The sunrise between the two pecan trees and the dandelions that the mower won’t mow down.  Beautiful morning.  Had to wear a sweater out just to be comfortable.  I think it is in the 50s and kind of windy.  Felt cool.

Went to church at Fellowship Baptist.  Had a good sermon on the “Nail Scarred Hands”. Sunday School was also good with lots of input from most everyone.

On the way home I stopped and got some chicken for dinner.  We like the chicken from the grocery store.  Really hit the spot today, haven’t had chicken for awhile.

Got to take a nap this afternoon.  I was kind of tired and this morning when I got up I was kind of sore!

Went back to church tonight.  This was the night for the Lord’s Supper.  Had a very good sermon on it also.  Talked about the origination and the meaning of the Lord’s Supper.

Not much on TV tonight.  I think I may play on the computer for awhile… Night Y’all….
