Sunday June 6th 2010

This is Sunday Morning and it is beautiful out!  Sun is shining and it is a little cooler than it has been.  Linda and I go into work at 9:30AM and work until 5PM.  That gives us time to go to church tonight.  When we got to work and looked at what we had to do we figured we would be all day getting all this done.  We surprised ourselves and finished in 3 hours.  I think we are getting our rhythm down a little better.  Ever think of the word rhythm? I’ve misspelled it twice now.  All those consonants (another hard word) and one vowel.  Back to work, in the afternoon I used the leaf blower to clean off the decks at the Lodge and the parking lot and Linda got to do laundry!!  Not a real exciting day but it went pretty fast.

This is the church we went to tonight.  Thought that we would try a different one.  Well, not many have Sunday evening services.  Oh, you can’t see the church??  In the middle of the picture is the steeple.

100_0524

This is the side view of Friendly Baptist Church.  They were quite friendly. The Pastor was on vacation and the Assistant Pastor had the service tonight.  “Being Spirit Filled”  was his sermon but Linda and I know what the apostles felt like when Jesus went to pray in the Garden.  We were tired.  There was a Gospel sing at Skyline Baptist church tonight and we would really like to have gone to see it but we were just to tired.

100_0525

They had quite a band and they were playing when we walked in.  Sounded like a jam session.  They really get the country and blue grass music going in here (Gospel of course)

100_0531

The lady in the picture above is supposed to be 92 years old and from what people say she can really play a mean banjo.

We went home and had a bite to eat and relaxed for awhile.  I was having a hard time staying awake so I went to be at 9PM.  I must be getting old.  Nite Ya’ll…..

Butterfly Day 6-05-2010

100_0514

Linda came and got me to take a look at these moths.  Not sure I have ever seen one like this. I have no idea what kind it is or the one in the next picture.  They were different though.

100_0518

The first one was quite large and this one is quite small but very colorful. This one was hard to take a picture of, it was at the top of a door and I used the telephoto lens and macro I think.  Finally got one that wasn’t blurry or off center.

100_0521

On the way back to the Main Office on the golf cart trail I saw this butterfly land on the Orange Milkweed plant.  Doesn’t look like a Monarch but is still very pretty.

100_0520

I haven’t ever seen Orange Milkweed and don’t remember seeing a butterfly that looked like this either.  The Lord sure makes pretty things!!!

We had a pretty good day today, Linda didn’t feel very good this morning but as the day went on she got to feeling better.  This wasn’t a stressful day after we finally got going but it was hot and humid.  After the cleaning I helped Johnny Mac clean air conditioners.  I helped with four before time to go home.  Looking forward to a nice quiet evening.  I’m tired..Nite Ya’ll..

Friday June 4th 2010

This morning is another sunny and warm start to a beautiful day.  Did laundry and got ready to see David and Marian off.  They left here about 11AM I think.Things aren’t going very well for them.  They needed to stop at the bank to cash their check and couldn’t do it until after 2PM so they came back here and visited until time. We followed them over to K-Mart to help them to the bank because they couldn’t get their camper in and out of the bank.  Went to lunch at Subway and walked around K-Mart for awhile until it was time to go to the bank.

100_0505

They are ready to get on the road and head for Iowa.  They have a Family reunion to go to this weekend.

100_0508

There was a car wash going on at K-Mart and our car was dirty. It was a give whatever you want for a kid’s softball team.  They did an excellent job.  I think the guy with the pressure washer probably did most of the work.

100_0509

Stopped at this lookout on the way back home.  Doesn’t really look as nice as I remembered from a couple years ago.

100_0500

This is “Flower Child” and her husband “Flower Guy”.  They take care of all the plants and mowing at the park.  I’ve done some weed eating and will probably do more tomorrow.

100_0502

The purty flowers above are weeds I think??

100_0503

“Flower Child” actually her name is Karen, said these beautiful orange flowers are actually orange milk weed.

100_0504

This shot is a little farther away, they look a lot nicer close up. I noticed them along the golf cart path and thought I needed to take a picture of them.  They will probably get prettier in a few days.

We will probably take it easy tonight, work tomorrow don’tcha know??  Goodnight….Ya’ll…..

Thursday June 3rd 2010

Not sure how much rain we got last night but it was quite a bit and some hail mixed in with it.  Lots of lightening and thunder also.

We asked David and Marian over for biscuits and gravy this morning, she had never had baking powder biscuits. I didn’t get a picture so you will have to believe me that it tasted good.  Marian liked the biscuits, but she put jelly on her gravy, hmmmmm strange……

I told Linda I wanted to go get something to cover up our catch all above the cab.  It doesn’t bother us but when people look at it, that kind of bothers me.  We went to Meeks Lumber and got a dowel. They call it a closet hanger.  Even got the hardware to hang them up!!

100_0492

This is our catch all.  Lots of room up here but not very organized.

100_0493

I got the dowel up and I’m not sure it is level but then our camper isn’t level. I was surprised that it wasn’t hard at all to get it up.

100_0495

Voila!!!  Linda picked out the curtains and had to let out the insert because the dowel was so big but after letting it out they fit perfectly!!  Covers up a lot of our “stuff”.

100_0496

Linda warmed up the Pork Burrito mixture and we had David and Marian over to help us eat some of them.  She also made Bread Pudding.

100_0499

This is Linda’s bread pudding with Vanilla Sauce.  Excellent.  We let them take the rest home with them. We just have to much other stuff left over.  We are glad we had them over, tomorrow they will be heading to Wyoming to work with some friends up there.  We are going to miss them, had lots of laughs together.

Time to call it a night, it is still early but I don’t think anything of any importance will happen before we go to be and we are getting kind of tired.. Nite Ya’ll……

Wednesday June 2nd 2010

WOW I just looked at yesterdays blog and I had June 10th on it, I think I must have been tired!

Today is another beautiful sultry, sunny day.  We went in to work at 11AM and had to go to the main office to find out what we were going to do. Linda talked with Heidi and found we had 2 motel rooms to clean and possibly a third and 1 in the Lodge that needed refreshed.  Got to back up here…..

100_0480

Thought that I would make some more bread this morning before we went to work.  I like the bowl that Dee got me for Christmas.  Really works good here in the camper.

100_0482

Ready to make it into loaves here…

100_0484

This was something a little different.  Cinnamon raisin ring. This was also the first time the convection oven has been used since we installed it the other day.  I was wondering if it was going to work but it got the bread nice and brown. I kept checking the fan to make sure it worked.

100_0489  Had to try the ring, it was good but nothing special.  The bread turned out nice and brown, I’m happy with the convection oven, Three times and it has worked better than the last one, or at least has lasted longer.  I called FedEx and told them to come pick up the old one.  Tomorrow.

Linda and I had a very good day at work today, actually one of the best.  We worked alone and got the rooms cleaned etc, and got almost all of the laundry done, got the old convection oven out where they could pick it up. All in all it was a good day.  We invited David and Marian over tomorrow morning for biscuits (baking powder) and gravy.  Marian has never had a baking powder biscuit.  She must have really been sheltered.

Getting off at 6:30PM is late.  By the time we cleaned up went to the $100 store (Wal Mart) and had a bite to eat it was after 9PM.  We went to bed a little early and while laying there I could see flashes of light and decided it was time to put our awning up.  We had a really good storm!!  Glad I put the awning up.  I think we had hail but don’t think the wind blew very hard. The thunder was something else though.  Nite Ya’ll….

Tuesday June 1st 2010

Oh what a day!  Went to do laundry this morning and didn’t have enough quarters to dry our clothes.  This was pretty early about 6:45 AM.  We get certain quarters from our boss that we use for laundry.  I had to walk over to the office and pick them up so I could dry our clothes. I thought about baking bread this morning but glad I didn’t do it.  To much going on.

We went to work at 11AM and had a few rooms to clean.  It worked out pretty good until we had to go to the Main Park to finish the house which is a double wide mobile home and is quite large.  Took about an hour to do that then went to lunch.

After lunch we started cabins and Johnny Mac was also cleaning cabins. We get off at 6:30PM and Johnny works until 10 I think.  He will get a couple more cabins then we will finish the rest tomorrow.

David and Marian treated us to IHOP tonight.  It was very good.  Linda had a blueberry thing with eggs and potatoes and I had a Philly Cheese steak sandwich.  Excellent.  I forgot to take the camera with us so I didn’t get any pictures.  We are going to take it easy tonight and I will probably get

up early tomorrow and make bread, hopefully…Nite Ya’ll…..

Monday May 31st 2010

Well, it is Sunday, no, it’s Monday, I’ll get it right, maybe.  It is really hard to keep track of the days the way we are working.

Had a pretty good day today, did a lot of cleaning and it went quite well.  I think we both felt better today than we have the last couple of days.

100_0472

Don and LaVon came over again tonight, they will be heading back to Oklahoma tomorrow.  Sounds like they had a very nice visit and got a lot accomplished while here with the “Christian Resort Ministries”. They are looking at a church not far from where we are camped and now wish we had Sundays off so we could go there and check it out for ourselves. Sounds like a great church.

100_0474

Linda made some pudding for Angel Food Cake.  Kind of like a chocolate mousse. LaVon is serving it up and is having a good time!

100_0476

Voila!!!  It’s ready when you are!  But we can’t eat and take pictures at the same time!!

We sure have a good time with Don and LaVon, will miss them but will see them again in August.  They will be back for a month for meetings etc.  We will be able to play a couple more games of that “stupid game” Zilch.

We are tired and will probably go to bed kind of early.  Our Satellite dish seems to have gotten moved so we had to hook up to cable.  Can’t record now but will be able to watch TV.  We don’t have to go in tomorrow until 11AM so will get a few things done in the morning. Goodnight Ya’ll….
