Well this is Linda’s birthday.  Went to the flea market, quite a birthday present huh???   We got to see a lot of things and bought a couple things.

We did have a good time today and will enclose a couple of pictures also.

This morning was very foggy but thought I would take a picture of the orange tree, it was loaded with oranges which really aren’t edible.  They are really sour, but we are going to try to make a pie out of them.  It is like a lemon pie.  Not sure how it will turn out…

This is Frank and Maggie from Sterling IL.  Frank and I worked at the same steel mill but different parts.  We have known each other for many years and have had a lot of good times together.

Frank does a great job of serving coffee doesn’t he?  We sat outside for quite awhile because the weather was so nice.  Had a great visit.

Maggie is looking up a recipe I think.  Their park model is really nice, just like home!!

We had our supper here, Stars, nice little hamburger place, kind  of like Sonic.  Nice big burgers for $1. I had 2 and Linda had 1 and it was a place I would go back to again.  Went to Wal Mart after this to pick up a few things, Saturday night is not the night to go to Wal Mart.  Guess they couldn’t afford more checkout people, the lines were really long.  Time to take a break and relax the rest of the night…

Friday Feb 5th 2010

This is Friday and we are heading out!!  Heading toward Donna TX in the Valley, about 280 miles or so.  Top picture is Jim and Hafdis who have been here for a long time and Jim and Hafdis do a lot of the work here at the park.  The middle picture is Al and Corene and they come here for the winter from Colorado.  They also have been here a long time.  The bottom picture is Nicholas, the maintenance guy.  He is from Cuba and just got his US citizenship recently.  He is very proud to be a citizen, not only that but he is a faithful worker and very dependable.

The picture of the campers is right after we got set up.  I put the awning out to dry it out but it was already dry,  I couldn’t believe it.  Our other camper was really something.  I could put out the awning and I had to watch out because I would get soaked whether it had rained or not.  I think it held water.   The bottom picture is of the campground from the ridge where there is a small water viaduct.  The weather here is gorgeous.  They said they have had a lot of rain and this is the 1st day in 2 weeks that it has been nice and the wind isn’t blowing either. Can’t get online so I will have to post this tomorrow.

Thursday Feb 4th 2010

This will be fast, I need to get a lot of things accomplished.:-)  Well, coffee comes first.  Went to the recreation room for coffee and visiting.  Took a shower. (Raining of course).  Went to Sattler to exchange an extend a flow for extend a stay which they didn’t have.  We are supposed to meet Charles and Pat and Jim and Halfdis at the Italian Garden.  Figure we have enough time to go to San Antonio to pick up a GPS.  Well, we had our times wrong, we were supposed to meet at 2 instead of 4PM so we didn’t get to eat at the nicest little Italian place in Texas:-(   We did get our TomTom though.  I also gave a loaf of bread to Al and Corrine this morning. Had a little problem baking them but did OK

I may have to add to this later….I can’t seem to find pictures… Later……

The above picture is Phyllis, one of the managers at Lake Pointe and I think the hand belongs to Linda.  I have to do it…..

I think Phyllis is excited, not sure, but I think she may be excited.  I brought her (and the other workers) a loaf of homemade bread (hot).  I didn’t realize I got this picture but thought it was great. 

 

The deer was outside our camper window, they walk past here quite often. The bottom picture is the hamburger dinner tonight.  It was good and there were quite a few people here also.

This is the line for the goodies!!  Baked Beans!!!!  Well, there was more than that but the beans were good and I didn’t go back for seconds either. Will write more tomorrow…Going to watch TV for awhile before going to bed.

The continuing story of the “Soggy Saga” on Tuesday, well, it isn’t raining but is cloudy and foggy, and the rain is coming!!!  The temp is a little higher today than it has been and our little electric heater is doing a great job of keeping us comfortable.  We took the camper out and filled the propane tank so we would have enough in case of really cool weather.  We could have had it filled here at the park for $30 but opted to take it out to the propane station which cost $12.20.  Paid to drive the 2 miles to get it filled. We got together with Charles and Pat and went to Startzville for a hamburger at the Startz Diner.  They have very good hamburgers.  We stopped in Sattler at the propane station there and picked up and extend-a-flow for the camper.  Guess I picked up the wrong thing, we need an extend-a-stay.  I believe it is the same thing except for the hookup to the 20lb tank.  We will go back tomorrow to see if they have an adaptor or can change the fitting on the hose.  We also went to Ace hardware and checked it out, then stopped at the Super S store to check it out.  Had a pretty good time. (I forgot the camera again:-(   I need to get a camera I can stick in my shirt pocket and keep it with me all the time.

Can’t remember if I had put in a picture of these condos or not, but these are the condos that Linda and I cleaned back in ‘07.  We had a great summer here then went back to Missouri for the winter.  Kind of backwards because Missouri was extremely cold, at least I thought so.  Time to post this, hope we don’t get to much rain….

Well, today is very wet and not very warm.  Seems to be following us around the country for some reason.  We didn’t do a lot today, I went to the office for coffee and visited for awhile.  We just kind of stayed around the camper most of the day.  In the afternoon, we stopped at Charles and Pat’s to ask if they would like to ride into town. They did. We stopped at the propane station to check on an extend a stay for the camper.  They didn’t have one so we went on into town to Wal Mart, Target and Best Buy.   I was trying to find a GPS unit but didn’t find one that I could afford.  They are expensive.  Haven’t found to many things that aren’t expensive.  Last night we just stayed in and watched a little TV.  EXCITING HUH???

Top picture is the coffee clutch where we hear all the gossip etc… the second picture is just a deer in the park.  They aren’t fed much anymore, they forage for what they can get.  There is a group here of about 20 I would guess, they aren’t friendly but they don’t run away from you either.  They are really interesting but they are also wild.  The fawns are beautiful. 

I thought that I had a picture of twin fawns but can’t find it.  Oh well, maybe I can look later..

This is Sunday and church service at the Recreation Room with Pastor Jay Heck.  He had a great sermon and I tended to learn a little, that is amazing, not that I know a lot but it is interesting that some things I took for granted may have answers that are amazing.  When Jesus arose in a cloud, I assumed it was a cloud.  Maybe it wasn’t!  I remembered when Jesus died and arose from the dead, there were a lot of old testament saints that arose also.  HMMMM.  Well, what happened to them??? People saw them and I believe talked to them.  What happened to them.  Well, He will come again the same way He left, in a cloud, but it also says in Jude 14 He will come with thousands of his holy ones.   HMMMM!!! He must have left with thousands also…..  Interesting!!

The top picture is Jay Heck getting ready to preach.  The second picture is Al and Corrine Watson, dipping ice cream at 2PM.  Saturday and Sunday’s are ice cream days.   $1 per bowl, not bad and it is good:-)

The 3rd picture is Pat Z hard at work at the front desk.  I think I can see her sweating!!!  NAW, it’s too cold out.  We have been having a good time visiting here with all the friends we know and have met. 

The picture above is Linda and Peggy the manager of the park.  They offered us our old job back.  Not sure about that, we will have to pray a lot about it.  All for now….Bye Bye…
