Wednesday March 2nd 2011

Today is another beautiful day, a little cool this morning so I put on a sweater, needed it until the sun came out and warmed things up.

We are going to Falfurrias this morning to meet Jim and Gail.  They are up by Corpus Christie TX so Falfurrias is about half way, actually from Mission up to Falfurrias there isn’t much of anything.  We figured we  could get there by 10:30AM is we leave at 9:00AM.  Actually we were right on, left at 9:15AM and got there at 10:45 and they were only about 5 minutes behind us.  We were going to eat at a restaurant called Star of Texas but it was closed so we ate at…

Side Door CafĂ©!!  It was a little hole in the wall but the food was decent.  We had a really good visit with Jim and Gail..

100_2398

Jim and Gail have lots of funny stories to tell.  We had some good laughs during and after lunch. They had to get back to Corpus because the twin 9 year olds would be home from school.  They are watching them for a month while the parents are in Italy.  They are having  a great time, yeah right!  They are driving Jim and Gail crazy!!  Don’t think they will do this again.

We got back home and let Sparky out, actually Dale and Velda let him out about 1:30PM so he was fine.  Dale said he wouldn’t walk for him, all he wanted to do was grovel on his belly!!  Funny dog!

I took a picture of the pool and hot tub…

For the price we pay here they have a really nice park and a lot of amenities!  People are really great also..

Mark from Hinton RV Park called me yesterday and asked it I would come back to work part time….Sure, we will be home and I will have a part time job, who could ask for more???

We got a call from David and Marian and they may stop by our place in July.  They have a couple weeks vacation and may head our way.  Be nice to see them again.

We didn’t do much tonight, watched our shows then went to bed.  It got pretty chilly last night so I figure it will get pretty chilly again tonight so we will probably sleep pretty good.  Night Y’all….

Tuesday March 1st 2011

Nice day today, going to be a really nice day, maybe a little warm but very nice.

We went to Sun Harvest Grocery Store which is supposed to be kind of an organic store, the meat, beef, is grass fed and excellent…

100_2393

We picked up some steaks for tonight, Joe and Mary are going to cook them.  We got three New York Strip Steaks and one top sirloin steak that weighed about three pounds..

100_2394

This was the left over piece from the sirloin.  It was really good but not as tender as the New York Strip.  We also bought the baking potatoes and I sliced up onion to cook on the grill. Linda picked up and made a fruit salad made of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and peaches.  It was really good.  We picked up some yogurt to put on top but that yogurt wasn’t something we liked.  It has a different consistency and also a very sharp taste.  I will eat it, may take awhile but I will eat it.

We had a good time with Joe and Mary, they are having some family medical problems with their grandkids back in Michigan.  They are packing up and getting ready to head out.  I think they are going to leave Thursday and head for Lincoln NE or Michigan, not sure which.

We got to watch our programs tonight so we are happy.  Also full… Night Y’all…

Monday February 28th 2011

Happy anniversary Darin and Brenna!!  Hope you had a great day for your anniversary

It is another gorgeous day here in the valley.  Going to be nice, about 6AM the front came through and the wind blew like crazy which isn’t really unusual but it did cool it down and it is supposed to be a great day today..

We don’t have anything planned again today will probably chill here at the camper.  I am going to finish reading the book I started a couple of days ago.  (I did finish it).  Great book, John Grisham is a great writer.

Linda wasn’t feeling the best today but I got to sit outside and it was great. Nice not having to do anything.

I wanted to check out a hardware store, Saenz, and by the time we got there it was closed.  Maybe tomorrow.  We went on to Wal Mart and got a few things while we were out.  Nothing special.

Monday must be a good TV night.  I watched in the bedroom and Linda watched in the living room.  She had to watch “The Bachelor” and I got to watch “Chuck” and “The Cape”  then we watched the second part of “Castle”.  We taped “Harry’s Law” and will watch that some other time.  Can’t believe the exciting day!!!!  Guess we better slow down some.

I called Daniel and he said it is starting to get cold there, guess we better wait a little bit before heading home.  We will start paying by the week now and leave when we get ready, sometime…Night Y’all…

Sunday February 27th 2011

Tomorrow is Darin and Brenna’s anniversary, 19 years!  They actually didn’t get married on the 28th but on the 29th so next year will be their real anniversary.  I called Bren today and she had forgotten about it.  I try to remember ours, I don’t remember much but I have that one down.  I may forget it when it gets here but usually I don’t.

Went to church at Blue Bonnet again.  I would rather go to Tip O Texas and hear Don preach but getting Linda up isn’t easy and she usually won’t get up unless there are plans.

We took a ride this afternoon to Burger King and I posted the blog for three or four days.  BK really works good I like it, much faster than McDonald’s but their prices are higher.

Went to Wal Mart then stopped at a new Mexican store just down the road from us.  It is a little store and some of their prices are really high but it is close.  We didn’t buy much, in fact, Linda bought some hot sauce and gave it to the neighbors, she kept one bottle which will probably last us a long time.  I can eat stuff that is kind of hot but I like to taste my food.

It was hot today, I turned the air on before I left for church.  It doesn’t usually get hot until after noon.  I think it was in the 90s again today but tomorrow there is a cold front coming through and it is only supposed to be in the 80s, nice!.

About 6:30PM I opened the camper and the breeze actually felt cooler than the air conditioning.  We left it open the rest of the night.  I think it is only supposed to get around 65 tonight so it should be nice sleeping.  So I will sign off and say Night Y’all…

Saturday February 26th 2011

Beautiful cool morning, wind is blowing and it looks like a great day.  We don’t have anything planned for today, Linda is letting me read one of her books by John Grisham called “The Last Juror”.  So far it is really good. Some parts are really funny.  I have been sitting outside reading with Sparky and I kind of doze once in awhile but Sparky has really been good about staying around.

Our neighbors from Quebec, Andre and Norlita, are leaving this morning to go down around Brownsville.  They have kids and grandkids with them.  They just flew in yesterday and I would say they are from Quebec also.  Norlita is a Phillipino and she speaks five languages!!

100_2388

Andre and Norlita are the ones that drove their motorhome from Quebec to here last year then drove on to Acapulco and back again.   I don’t think I would want to drive through Mexico but they didn’t seem to have any trouble.  She speaks some Spanish and I guess it was enough to get them through the worst of the language barrier.

I took a picture of a tree this morning, not sure if it is a Mesquite Tree or not but they seem to have all budded at the same time…

100_2386

It has little yellow flowers or buds on it and if I’m not mistaken last week it was bare!  Maybe Spring is here in the Valley!!

Our other neighbors from Illinois, Will and Nancy left about noon.  I sat over there and talked to him for about an hour.  He is a mobile home/RV repairman.  He has had his own business for 30 years.  They are headed for Donna for about a week before heading to San Antonio then on home.

Linda fixed us a great supper….we bought a package of round steak, I think, and she put it in the crock pot and cooked it for about eight hours.  I pealed a couple potatoes and let them cook in with the meat for a couple hours. OHHH so good!!  Sounds like Mr. Food!  The steaks were from Wal Mart and good thing they cooked for eight hours, they were tender when they were done and I don’t think they would have been tender if grilled out.

We went to the DQ with Dale and Velda for a little “treat”.  We always have a good time with Dale and Velda, they are good Christian people.

Well, should I put another picture of Sparky in???  OK I will..

100_2390

He is busy with a rawhide chew .  He really likes his new bed.  We don’t have a lot of room in here for it and it is very slippery.  It is made from recycled water bottles and Sparky loves to play with empty water bottles, I think it is the crunch they make.  Time to go, catch you on the flip flop Y’all..

Friday February 25th 2011

Beautiful morning.  It is cloudy but the breeze is blowing and it really isn’t bad out, in fact it is kind of cool, beautiful day to sit outside.

We did turn the air on during the day, it got into the 80s which really wasn’t to bad but it gets way to warm in the camper.

Sparky and I got to sit outside for quite awhile.  He kept himself busy for a long time…

100_2382

He just has to admire his work and accomplishments…

100_2384

I just let him dig.  He was having a great time and all I have to do is push the dirt and stones back off the slab.  He is really doing well at obeying too. He usually stays right around where we are if I tell him to or tell him to come back.  Notice I don’t have a leash on him.

Linda and I went to the Star Drive Inn tonight for something to eat.  Linda got a jalapeno burger which wasn’t the greatest and we both got a hot fudge sundae.  They were pretty good.

We left there and went on to Wal Mart to check out a couple things and Linda got Sparky a new bed, doesn’t he look comfortable???

100_2385

Not much else going on, oh, this morning we had the coffee klatch and I was talking to Andy and wouldn’t you know, Cordova Drag Strip was one of his hangouts!!  I went there once in awhile.  He raced, I watched, even though I don’t remember seeing him, he is the second person that I have met that used to go to Cordova Drag Strip, the other person was in Sikeston MO. Getting back to this morning, we had a Bible Study and a great discussion, or discussions.

Well, not to much going on tonight so will let y’all go…Night Y’all…

Thursday February 24th 2011

This is a gorgeous morning!!  The wind is blowing a little and it is cool out and we are waiting for the Pony Express Propane guy.  He usually gets here around 8AM so I got Linda up and got ready for him.  We waited. We waited some more, guess I better call.  No answer.  HMMMM I think maybe I should ask Bob.  Bob said he was supposed to be here today.  I got the phone and there was a message from Pony Express so I called back and “no answer”.  He called back again, not a “happy camper” guess I didn’t listen to his voice mail.  Anyway, he said he would be here today but had no idea what time.  Guess what??  We waited some more.  He made it here about 10AM, give or take, and we got our propane.  This was the most that we ever had to get 6.4 gallons!  Not a big tank and why it was empty I’m not sure, hope we don’t have a leak.

It is still nice out and Sparky and I have been sitting out but I can tell it is going to get warm and figured we would have to turn on the air conditioner before long.  I was right, it got warm, in fact the record was broken today, 97 degrees, the record was 96.  Sparky and I still sat outside though and it wasn’t to bad as long as the breeze was blowing.

Tonight the weather man said it was going to cool off and be really nice so I went outside after supper and sat for awhile and Linda came out also.  We figured it would cool off pretty fast when the sun went down.  WRONG!  We opened up the camper and watched TV and it got warmer.  I think when we were ready for bed about 10:15PM it was still in the 70s.  Air conditioner time!  Glad I turned it on it was a lot more comfortable than with the windows open, I know because tomorrow morning when I got up it was cool outside but with about 100% humidity.  Very uncomfortable outside.  I’m getting ahead of myself.  If I say in my blog tomorrow that it was a beautiful morning, you will know I forgotSmile…Night Y’all….
