Sunday May 16th 2010

We have really gotten a lot of rain!!  Rained all night and this morning it is not only raining but raining hard!!  Went back to church at Kimberling City FBC and won’t be able to go again, NO they didn’t tell me I couldn’t come back!!!  I could only stay for about 15 minutes of the preaching and had to leave.  The second service began at 10:30AM and I thought I would have enough time but I thought it started at 10:00AM.  Have to find an 8AM service somewhere.

Linda and I worked again today and it went a little easier. We won’t be fast but we like to be quite thorough. Anyway, when we were done we were ready to relax.  It was quite a workout, but had a good time.

I fixed some celery soup for our supper.  I thought it was good.

When we were in Carriere MS a lady at church gave us this video her son Landon Skipper made.  I will have to say these kids have talent.  If I’m not mistaken, Hayden Putnam, the preachers son did the music and to me it sounded professional.  The preacher’s daughter, Hailey, was the main actor and she did an excellent job.  The movie was put together in such a way that there were no speaking parts but you knew exactly what was going on and didn’t really need to hear speaking parts.  Again, congratulations on a great video….

Have to work again tomorrow so we are going to bed kind of early….Nite yall……

Saturday May 15th 2010

Rained like crazy last night.  Not all night but seemed like every time I woke up it was raining!  The camper did good.  We left the bedroom slide out and it didn’t leak.  We are sitting at quite an angle though but it doesn’t bother us.

We got to go to work again today.  The work wasn’t to hard but it was different.  Linda and I pretty much worked by ourselves and it went pretty good.  We had to ask questions but that is normal, we don’t know what to do.  I think we did OK and will probably take awhile to improve.

We went to Wal Mart after we finished work, had to get a few things.  We asked David and Marian over for supper.  Linda fixed Turkey and noodles. It was excellent, had some corn, pickled beets and jellied cranberries to go with it.  Nice supper.

Look good don’t they?  Got these at Wal Mart this afternoon.  Really big strawberries!!

Linda fixed these for desert!  Had Angel Food Cake, strawberries and cool whip for desert.  Was very good!!  After supper we talked for awhile and then they decided to head home. They have to go in early tomorrow.  We go in at 11AM so we will get a chance to go to church in the morning.  I am really tired tonight so when they left it was time for us to clean up and get ready for bed.  Hope you have a great day or nite…Nite yall!!

Friday May 14th 2010

Cloudy and cool this morning.  Today is our first scheduled day at work. This should be interesting.  When we were told what to do, we were to break in with another new couple.  Had a pretty good time.  Lots of things to remember and they have “specific” ways of folding linens.  That will take a little while to remember.

Linda mentioned to Heidi about the days off and we think right now it will be Tuesday and Wednesday. But because of all that we moved our camper. We couldn’t get our satellite to work where we were so Heidi said we could move where ever we could get it to work.  We moved to an open site with a view of the Southern sky.  Satellite works!!  We are on a cement pad and we are putting out both slides!  We had to leave our bedroom slide in because it leaked.  The gravel site was not level at all. We aren’t level now but the water doesn’t run into the camper.

This weekend was the fiddlers convention.  Not good weather but tonight it is not raining and not hot but pretty nice.  They set up tents and have gazebos around and they just get together and have a jam.  This was probably the best picture that I took.  The building in the back is the motel.  I know it has 5 units but not sure if it has more than that. The main lodge has 24 units.  Nice units!

This was a group that was inside the Hall. They sang Country music, but I didn’t recognize any of the songs.

This picture didn’t turn out very good but the group was excellent. They even sang some songs I recognized like “Your Cheatin Heart” and they did a good job!

We didn’t stay to long, we wanted to get back to the camper and relax. After moving etc we were kind of tired.

Linda had fixed a turkey breast, sweet potatoes and jellied cranberries.  Very good and the tryptophan is doing its job….Nite yall…

Thursday May 13th 2010

Cloudy and rainy today!!  I don’t know if I am supposed to go to work today or not, I know Linda isn’t but I called and asked Heidi and she was supposed to get in touch with Roger.   I will wait.  I am dressed and ready. Roger called a little after 10AM and said I should go ahead and work on the power washing.  Sounds good to me.  I like power washing, when the washer works right.  When I got it out and set up, I started it and it worked!!  Wahoo!!  I accomplished quite a bit considering the size of the shelter or whatever you call it.  It is all wood and has quite a bit of green on it.  By the time I quit I had about 1/3 of it done and all the picnic tables.  Good day. I helped David at the pool getting the cover off.  Not easy. In fact we didn’t get it off.  We had it all the way to one end and couldn’t get the wet leaves in the cover onto the deck.  David went to get some rope so we could tie it onto the golf cart to give us the extra boost we needed.  I went back to power washing and happened to look over and another worker was pulling on the tarp so I figured I better go help.  I tried to get him to stop but it was to late.  All the leaves went into the pool, what a bummer.  He got the skimmer and started getting the leaves a little at a time.  What a job!!

After I finished work we just took it easy, in fact I took a nap.  Not a real exciting day but I had a good time.  We watched some TV before going to bed.  Had Cheerios for supper, ummm good.  Nite yall….

Wednesday May 12th 2010

It is warm today and sunny.  We are going to work today, a couple days earlier than scheduled but they asked if we could help put up tents for the fiddlers.  It will be something to do.  We had the tents up in 45 minutes so we set up chairs and set up chairs in the Meeting Room.  Not sure what it is called other than the Whistle Stop Cafe.  Linda worked with Marian in cleaning and learned a few things about what has to be done.  I took a tour with Roger the manager and he showed me the places I may have to know. It was kind of interesting.  After the tour we got the power washer out and I was going to clean off a deck in the new part of the campground.  Took a long time to find all the things I need to use so I could get started.  The washer started pretty good but couldn’t get it to spray right, just didn’t have enough pressure and wouldn’t suck up the bleach solution.  Maybe tomorrow if I go to work.

We went to the Yakov Smirnov show tonight.  It was pretty good!

100_0267

The performers were amazing!  Talented!  They did things that I couldn’t even imagine trying to do.  The unicyclist rode a unicycle without a seat and jumped from one to another.  They were all very good.  They also served dinner.

100_0283

This is our dinner.  It was a boxed dinner.  It had potato soup, a turkey dog wrap, cheese cake and a bottle of water.  I have to say that it was very good.  Soup was tasty and turkey dog was very filling.  We enjoyed the show with David’s brother and sister in law, and David and Marian.

When we got home we had to do laundry.  Had quite a bit to do and didn’t want to leave it for later.  Got that done and relaxed.  Not sure if I will work tomorrow or not, sounds like rain sooooo…Nite yall….

Tuesday May 11th 2010

It has to be warmer out today, when I got up the temp inside was 66 and yesterday it was 51!!  It is still cloudy out though but not raining.  I took the walk through the woods on the trail and later I found a tick on my leg.  I thought it was a place where I had bumped myself.  It was kind of sore so I had Linda put some alcohol on it then pull it out,  Sure didn’t want to come out and hopefully it wasn’t a deer tick with Lime (sp?) disease.

Went to Wal Mart for something, can’t remember what it was though.  In fact I think we forgot what we went there for when we got there.  We did end up spending quite a bit of money though.  I know one thing we forgot was a humming bird feeder. The other day I saw a hummingbird outside our window (close) looking in!!

We went to the IMAX theater, free of course, to see a film about the Hubble telescope.  I thought it was very interesting.  I love looking at the stars and the fact that God placed them there and the expanse of space is just unfathomable!  I think the Hubble is just starting to see part of it.

100_0249

The IMAX sign, as if you couldn’t see that.

100_0257

Marian, Linda and David’s sister-in-law.  I would put her name down but I would have to ask Linda.  Maybe later.  They were having a good time.

100_0258

Marian did a little interview for the vacation channel here in Branson.  They served some snacks, pizza and sandwiches which were pretty good.  Now the movie wasn’t exactly a movie, it was more of a documentary about the Hubble telescope.  It wasn’t an exciting movie but was very interesting to those who wonder about space and the stars.

We got home kind of early, watched some TV and went to bed kind of early.  Oh, I went to the office with David earlier and Heidi, the manager, asked if I could help put up a tent, or tents, tomorrow.  Sure, I need something to do and so she said Linda could start breaking in with Marian. So tomorrow we will start work  May 12th, I will write that down because I sure won’t remember it.  Nite yall…

Monday May 10th 2010

BRRRR still rainy and cold!  Not going to do a lot today, probably just stay in and try to keep warm.  We have our little ceramic heater and it is running constantly.  Got it up to 61 in here and it is comfortable.

I decided to go for a walk.  David said there was a trail, called “appetite trail” so I had to give it a try.

100_0248

The trail looks pretty nice doesn’t it???  Not bad but going down but it has baseball size rocks that are very hard to work on and they are covered with leaves.  The other half of the trail is going up.  I had to stop twice to get my breath!!  I didn’t realize I was in such bad shape.   I need to walk this trail everyday if I can.

I made some cauliflower soup.  Turned out quite well if I do say so myself.  I would have taken a picture but it would have looked like a pot of milk.  Very white but good.

David and Marian came over and visited for awhile and watched Dancing With The Stars.  Not David and my favorite show, in fact David changed chairs so he couldn’t see it.  He really wanted to leave.  Poor guy:-(

Not going to do much tonight, I’m kind of tired and so is Linda.  We are looking forward to going to work and doing something different. Soooo.. good night yall….
