I’ve been checking around to see what all I will have to fix when I start on the floor.  Looks like it could be a major project if I do it right. Under the cabinets and sink there are soft spots that should be replaced, not really necessary but to do it right the cabinets will all have to come out plus the bathtub and stool.  Might not sound like a lot but I think it will be a major project.  I really would like to do it right and have it done rather than do part and have a problem in a couple of years and have to tear out the kitchen and bathroom.  Maybe next year???

We went to Lowe’s to check on some drawer rollers.  The ones I have are not in real good shape but the new ones are the same size only new.  I think I may have to do a little work on the runners where the wheels go.  May not work but it is worth a try.  I bought a new gas tank for the water heater.  It is a twenty pound one and now we will see how long it lasts.

We are going to see the light show at Hidalgo.    They have a really big light show for Christmas.  Got some pictures even, most didn’t turn out well though.

This is our group.  Front row.  Cheryl, Joe and Mary, back row Don, Jack, Mary, Joel and Linda.  I took a lot of pictures but a lot didn’t turn out, especially the ones from the bus we were in which kept moving and the windows were tinted so most didn’t turn out well.

We had a good time but it was pretty chilly and we took the bus which was warm but it didn’t take long to get chilly walking around.

I see Angry Birds in the background and I know I have a picture of them….

We play Angry Birds, kind of fun but for an old person like me, it isn’t easy!

We got up early and we headed to Corpus Christie to see John.  John called a couple of weeks ago just to talk.  We haven’t seen each other for around twenty years.  We worked at the mill probably never in the same department but we knew each other for most of the time we worked there.

Corpus Christie is a pretty good sized town and John took us around after eating at Kiko’s, a Mexican restaurant.  We stopped at the Gulf to get a couple of pictures…

It was pretty chilly today, don’t think it got over 55 degrees.  Jacket weather for sure.  It did start warming up on the way home though, the closer we got to the valley the warmer it got.  It got close to sixty and it was almost dark.  We got home around 6PM.  Had a great day, good trip and made it home safely.

We watched a little TV tonight but I couldn’t stay awake so we went to bed around 9PM.  I figure I will be up around 3AM.  Oh well, Night Y’all…

Monday December 10th 2012

We have dance lessons this morning over at Mission Bell.  We like the dance instructor, Ted, he is pretty good with the people like us that aren’t very coordinated.  We had a good time and we are learning the two step and the Bop and the Waltz.  We have a lot of problems with keeping the steps right but we are getting a little better.

After dance class we went to fill up with gas for tomorrow and then we went to Wal Mart to pick up a few things that Linda wanted.

I baked some cinnamon rolls, wanted to take a few over to Don and Cheryl because she is laid up with a sprained foot.  The dough didn’t raise like I think it should have but the rolls turned out pretty good, very tasty.  Also found out that the black pan I used wasn’t meant for the oven.  Fortunately I used aluminum foil so the rolls should have been OK.

Well, I did take a couple of pictures, the first is Joe and Mary’s Christmas tree….

It isn’t a pine tree but a different kind of palm tree, I think it looks very nice!

This is a Papaya tree (?)…  Not sure if it is a tree or not, doesn’t really look like a bush though.

Not a lot going on today so I will say Night Y’all…

Sunday December 9th 2012

We are going to church again at MFBC.  Pastor Adrian is back and is preaching this morning.  Had a good sermon and Sunday School was good also.

Stopped at Foy’s Market and picked up a couple of steaks for tonight. Going to get together with Joe and Mary and Don and Cheryl.  Cheryl fell last night over a couple of cement curbs, well, she didn’t fall but twisted her ankle or foot and went to Urgent Care this morning to get it checked. She can’t hardly walk.

Linda’s arm is getting darker, she twisted it about a week ago…

It still hurts her but it is getting better I think.

Had a good time at the cookout, played a couple of games of “Farkle”  and had a lot of good laughs.

We got home again around 8PM and watched a couple of shows we had recorded earlier..I was tired so I fell asleep in my chair and Linda kept waking me up so I could watch the show….Night Y’all…

It is another warm and beautiful day!  Going to get into the upper 80s again.

Linda is going to fix a desert, chocolate lush, or girdle buster, for our get together tonight.  I think it will be a good time.

I turned the water heater down because it just got to hot and couldn’t get enough cold water to cool it down to shower temperature.  I took a shower and after getting it adjusted it was great!  I think the water heater is going to work out just fine.  I’m still amazed that this little thing can put out so much really hot water for as long as you want.  I’m amazed to, that when you turn the hot water on, the heater comes on and as soon as the water is turned off the fire goes out.  It isn’t even hooked up to electricity, it just has two “D” cell batteries for the ignition source!  Incredible!

We went to the party tonight, picked up Jack and Mary, they went with us, and got there in plenty of time.

The entertainment was from two different high schools, they did a great  job..

This next group I thought were professionals, I would give there name but I can’t pronounce it or spell it but they were very good…

These kids had a lot of energy.  Got tired just watching them.

We got home pretty early, around 8PM I think and we took it easy the rest of the night, watched a little TV and went to bed…Night Y’all….

Friday December 7th 2012

This is the day that will be remembered!  71 years ago if I remember right, listened to it on the news.  Actually people still living that remember it and were actually there!   They are definitely getting older.

Had the coffee klatch today at the rec room.  Paul and Sandy had it today.  I always enjoy these.  Lots of stories that are really interesting.  Had a good time, thanks Paul and Sandy…

Well, today is the day I start on the water heater.  I think I have all the parts and Joe said he would come over and help.  After all was done I was glad Joe and Don came over to help.  The heater worked good but when I got it hooked up we couldn’t get any hot water, come to find out I needed to block the water heater so the cold water wouldn’t do all the work.

Don also helped because the fittings I put together inside were leaking.  I thought I had them tight but he checked them and got them hooked up right and I fixed the third fitting before turning on the water again.  It works!!

It sure isn’t very big but it sure puts out some hot water!!  I love it.  We only have a 30 amp hookup and when the water heater would come on it would use almost all of our electricity.  Couldn’t do anything else while it was heating water so now our electric bill should go down and we should have plenty of hot water.  I have it hooked to 40 lb propane tank.  Should last a long time.

Linda went shopping with Mary and Cheryl.  She found a lot of good deals

so we have to find room for all of it.  Good luck.

Beautiful morning again, not going to do much today, still tired from yesterday.

We went to the pool this afternoon and sat there and relaxed.  We were the only two in the pool. I swam in the pool, which is very cool, and Linda went into the hot tub and tried to relax and get her back to feeling better.  It still kind of hurts from  falling the other day.  Her arm is getting darker everyday.  It still hurts her so this may help also.

We tried to take a nap this afternoon but it didn’t happen.

We are going dancing tonight at Mission Bell.  We went there last week and with the lessons we had on Monday tonight will be the night we practice.  We try but we aren’t very good at the two step or the waltz.  We didn’t even try the bop.  I’m pretty sure we couldn’t do it.  There sure are a lot of dances we would like to try, actually try to learn, but I think the basic is first on the list.  By the end of the night we weren’t doing to bad.  We get messed up but we are doing better.

We got home and went to bed pretty early.  The dance gets over around 10PM and we got home before 10:30.   Tried to get Sparky some exercise before going to bed.  He is really good, usually sleeps all night.
