Tuesday May 4th 2010

Today is the day!!!  We packed up some things yesterday after we picked up the camper but still have a lot to do this morning.  I looked out the window and FOGGY!!  Probably won’t matter though, we won’t get an early start.  I got Linda up a little after 8AM, she wasn’t ready!!  We still have lots to do today and she stayed up late last night watching Dancing with the Stars.  Not a good idea!!

We finally got everything loaded I think, can’t find my watch but I do have my camera and telephone.  Connie came over to check on Aunt Virgie and see us off.  Sad that everything is going to change when we leave and will really seem funny when we come back.  We got on the road about 10:30, give or take and with all the stops to check the car we finally made it to the interstate and headed out like a herd of turtles.  Linda was ready to stop for the night before we got to Jackson about noon!!  I know this is a long drive but we have so much to do at home we need to push on.  She started feeling a little sick when we got to Arkansas, she hadn’t eaten much so she had a sandwich and some chips.  I was tired at first but got a second wind when we made it to Arkansas.  The trip was pretty good, gas is getting expensive and I need to fill the camper with fuel.  We made it home about 7:45PM I think and we were ready to stop.

I forgot I had taken a couple pictures.  Camper is loaded car is hooked up Voila!!!  We are ready!

This looks like an ordinary picture.  Guess what???  It is!!!  No, looks like a campground over there but there are probably a thousand FEMA campers parked there.  Probably never have been used.  Our tax dollars at work.  I have a hard time taking pictures and driving but don’t have time to get the camera to Linda.

I 55 Northbound.  This is where the tornado went through around Yazoo City.  This is the last part of it and it is hard to comprehend the devastation a tornado can do in just a few minutes.  Sorry I didn’t get a better picture.

We are just plum tuckered.  Linda had to watch some TV though and made a couple of cheese quesadillas for our late night supper.  Was good!

Found a couple things wrong at home, the light switch in our bedroom wouldn’t work so we couldn’t use our overhead fan but generally everything was fine.  Think we will sleep good tonight!!!   Nite yall…..

Monday May 3rd 2010

It is still cloudy this morning and very humid.  The A/C still ran some during the night and the windows are fogged on the outside this morning!  We have the A/C set on about 74 degrees.  It sure helps keep the humidity down in here.

I made a couple loaves of cinnamon bread this morning. They didn’t turn out very good, used to much sugar I think.

I called Paw Paw’s at 8:01AM and they said that the camper was done except for the coax and the things they didn’t have parts for. They said they would call when they were finished.  I called back at 11:30AM and it was being washed so Rick gave us a ride into town and we picked it up and filled it up with gas.  We brought it back to Aunt Virgie’s and started packing our things, also tried the TV, A/C, refrigerator and everything else we could think of and everything seemed to work OK.

Connie came over  to go through Aunt Virgie’s clothes and get rid of some stuff.  Rick took her to the Dr to get a chest X ray and a TB test.

Went over to Rick and Connie’s tonight for a great supper and a few really good games of Zilch.  Watched some TV and the news about the dogs that have physical problems.  It was really good, sad though what some of these dogs have gone through.  The “Dag” house (short for dag nab it) is doing wonders for a lot of dogs that would normally be put down.  My hat’s off to them.

We still have a lot to load up in the camper then when we get home we will have a lot to unload.  Going to bed now…Night yall….

Sunday May 2nd 2010

72 degrees this morning!!  Cloudy and humid.  Supposed to rain, well, 80 percent chance I think.

You were right LaVon, I took a couple of notes on Dr (almost) Pee Wee’s sermon.  Luke 8:1-18.  He preached on the difference between hearing and listening.  I hadn’t heard Pee Wee preach before but he is good!  Not only interesting but amusing and informative!  He did good.

We took Aunt Virgie over to the the Assisted Living place a few miles away where we think she will become a resident. The place seemed nice, the people were friendly and I think Aunt Virgie liked it.  Really hate to see her go to a place that isn’t “home”.

This would be her room. Small but room enough to be comfortable.

This is a picture of the dining room and living room.

Anna Grace playing the piano.  I didn’t know she could play so good.  She is 10 and plays like a professional.  She is really good, so is her mother and grandmother.  Had a real good visit here at the home.

Pee Wee had a good sermon tonight again.  Job chapter 28.  Job isn’t my favorite book in the Bible but he made chapter 28 very interesting.  Where does Wisdom come from???  Kind of went along with the sermon this morning.  Listen!!!

Well it’s about time for bed.  May get our camper back tomorrow.  We have to get our camper back tomorrow.  We need to leave Tuesday in order to get home and get a few things done before heading to Branson. Good night yall…..

Saturday May 1st 2010

Today is going to be a lazy day.  Stayed up late last night when Steve and Pam were here.  I got up kind of early and tried to post things to my blog but wasn’t successful.  Linda and Aunt Virgie both got up late, not even going to say what time it was.

Linda and I went into McDonalds this afternoon and got on the internet and posted 3 days on the blog.  I’m sure I won’t get today’s on it from home. I will probably have to go into McDonald’s again.  If I posted them without pictures I’m sure it would work from here.

100_0161

This is Linda’s famous pork burritos!!  I didn’t get a picture when Steve and Pam were here so this is our supper tonight!!  Excellent!

100_0162

Sometimes my camera takes pictures that are a little blurry…I know it couldn’t be me!!

Connie came over this afternoon for a visit.  Rick is in North Carolina at a golf thingy.  (that isn’t the real name)  He got to see Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and a bunch of other famous golfers.  Rick helps with the drug testing.  Sounds like a very interesting job.  I think he likes it but doesn’t like being away from home for 3 or 4 days at a time.  Anyway, Connie filled us in on Rick and his great adventure.  Had a good visit

We stayed up until 9:30PM.  I think we were all tired.  A good nights sleep will sure be welcomed…night yall….

Friday April 30th 2010

April showers bring May flowers, well, the Azaleas are gone and it isn’t really raining. It is cloudy and very humid though.  I got a little ambitious this morning after breakfast and decided to do a little trimming on the Box Bush hedge in front of Aunt Virgie’s house…

100_0160

May not be the greatest job in the world but looks a little better.

Aunt Virgie had her hair appointment changed to today so she has to be there by noon.  She was ready to go.  Linda and I had things to do in town, yep at Paw Paw’s. They were supposed to get the microwave in today.  We checked, they checked and sure enough it was there!!!  They were supposed to get on it right after lunch.  There was at least 4 things that needed to be done before we pick it up Monday.  We will see.  We also got a free lunch.  Hamburgers.  I think they have lunch on Friday.  Last Friday we had chicken and deer sausage.  That was good.  Back to the camper.. We will have to pick it up Monday and T.J. talks like he will have it finished.  We didn’t get a call today…..

Connie took Aunt Virgie over to her place after the hair appointment so we went and picked her up.  She had lunch and tonight Linda is fixing Burritos. Steve, Pam and Anna Grace are coming over tonight.  They had an appointment this evening to check out an Assisted Living place not far from here.  They got here about 7PM.  Very good reports on the Assisted Living place.  They told Aunt Virgie about it and she seems to be for the idea of moving.  I think we were all surprised about that.  Anna Grace is really an encourager.  She was really pumping up “Grandma” on the place. We will go over Sunday afternoon with Steve, Pam, Aunt Virgie and probably Rick and Connie to check it out.  Aunt Virgie really wants to see it for herself before moving in which is good.

100_0154

Anna Grace is cutting and serving cake with strawberries and cool whip and/or ice cream.  Had a great supper.  Aunt Virgie really liked it!!

100_0156

She posed for this picture but she really did lick her plate and I didn’t have the camera.   Isn’t she a sweet thang?  We played cards for a little bit but the time went by so fast we only played a half game of zilch.  Linda won.

100_0157 100_0158

Now here are a couple of exciting pictures!!!  I have to send this picture to my brother Ed. He is the Maytag repairman and years ago I was with him working on a washing machine or dish washer and he found one of the plastic things in the pump which stopped it.  Kind of looks like a large guitar pick.  He couldn’t figure out what it was and I told him I had seen one of these before but couldn’t remember where.  About 2 or 3 years later I remembered and told him but not sure he believed me.  Well, here’s proof! Voila!  Cheap guitar pick!!  Anyway, have to go, I have 3 days waiting to post on the blog and can’t get online long enough to post them.  McDonald’s is a sure place though…..Bye yall…

Thursday April 29th 2010

This is going to be another beautiful day!!  Sunny and warmer.  Going to be around 80 I think.  I have a couple of things that I want to do today.

100_0141

The Azalea bushes have other bushes growing in them and I asked Steve to drop off his lopping shears.  This is not an easy job!  Very hard to tell one bush from the other.  Almost have to follow them down to the ground to tell them apart.

100_0142

These are a few of the bushes.  I think they grow faster than weeds.  They smell pretty nice, a heavy, sweet pungent smell.  I liked it at first and now I think I don’t like them.  They really are a nuisance and almost impossible to kill out.

100_0148

I didn’t do all of this pile but when I finished getting the bushes out of the blueberries I was ready to quit.  Had to take another picture of the berries.

100_0150

The blueberries are starting to turn blue!!  Looking good..

100_0143

Linda took a nice picture of a rose  Looks beautiful.

Linda fixed a meatloaf tonight.  Very interesting.  She made patties and fried them.  I made mashed potatoes and string beans.  Had a pretty good supper.

We watched some TV and decided to go to bed. We will go to Picayune tomorrow to check and see if the parts came in.  Night yall……

Wednesday April 28th 2010

I woke up this morning (and that’s a good sign) to a beautiful day.  It is cool and the sun is shining!  What a great day.  We were thinking of going into town today but not sure.  Guess the telephone works just as good.  I need to get in touch with Steve at Gulfstream and Michelle at Paw Paw’s. Well going out of order Steve from Gulfstream returned my phone call (shocking!) and told me that the microwave will be shipped overnight.  He said it should be here no later than Friday.  If so, we will be heading back to Missouri either Monday or Tuesday.  Depends on how long it takes us to get packed up.  Got in touch with Michelle at Paw Paw’s and she new nothing of the microwave being shipped but she said she would get on the phone right away to see if she could get a tracking number.  “Go Michelle”.

100_0136

Decided to make some bread this morning, we finished up the old bread yesterday.  Aunt Virgie said she would like to have cinnamon bread instead of cinnamon rolls, Sounds good to me.  The loaf of the right looks a little deformed but still tastes good.

100_0137

The Youth Group from West Union Baptist church, across the street, had a fund raising dinner last night. Cuevas Fish House has a mobile unit (in picture) and they did a great job preparing fish and chicken meals.  I went over and bought a couple which is in the next picture.

100_0139

MMMMMM Good.  Linda got chicken and I got Cat Fish. More than enough to eat and very good.  I talked to a lady last night after church when they were cleaning and she said they cleared over $600!  I had to ask about Cuevas and she said they cleared about $1400.  Not bad for 2 hours.  That was a lot of meals at $8.  And all these were prepared in that little trailer. Chicken or fish, hush puppies, slaw and french fries.

After church there was a movie (of sorts).  Actually it was about Mt St. Helen and the eruption and what geologists the creationists discovered. Very interesting facts but the movie was very boring.  It explained the Grand Canyon.  When Mt St Helen erupted there were thousands of tons of mud, steam and ash produced in a matter of hours.  After it was safe to go back in they found a mini grand canyon with layers of stratus (?) that were formed in a matter of minutes or hours.  They think the Grand Canyon had to have been formed in exactly the same way….. Very interesting.  Well, time to take a break…Night yall..
